just waiting on chiefs

Bawb from Hoahpoahgwah is entitled to his opinion.

Nash is a very good player, but personally I wouldn't ever entertain the idea of him being a better all-around player than Tavares.

Next year is going to very interesting with Tavares. UFA after the year is over, and he's going to have to make a decision whether he wants to sign long-term with the Islanders. If he isn't giving them the warm and fuzzies by mid-year, they would seriously have to think about trading him. Not to mention, the organization would probably be well-served to do something that shows him it won't just be the status quo.

Not saying it sets anything in stone, but as recently as last week he reiterated his loyalty to the Islanders. He could have done the typical deflection, where he talks about how it's a long way off, blah, blah, blah...but he consistently says that he has no intention of leaving.

Maybe it's BS and he wants out, maybe not...but I'm not overly concerned yet. As disastrous as this season is, it's following two very strong years. It's not like this has been the status quo for the last 3 consecutive seasons or anything.

I am not even saying this an "the Islanders suck" issue. It's not, but anytime a player approaches unrestricted free agency, you have to worry, insofar as they can play where ever the hell they want, and get paid a ton to do it. That being said, the direction of the franchise is a significant factor for any player, so I think what happens in the next year will, of course, play into the decision. The Islanders have a good prospect base. Just need to hit on a couple of these guys. They've missed on too many.

I don't get why they took Hayes off the PP...he should be on it over Piri

Hayes is good at keeping it in the zone and setting up other players where as Pirri shot is unstoppable when its on. Tough choice. Hayes gets more points and chances shorthanded anyway.

Cause Hayes would try to pass the puck into the net.

Sure is nice to have 2 shoot-first guys on the PP. Enough of the pass into the net crap. Watch, no PP tonight.

If Staal is out long term which it doesn't sound like he is I'd go after Oduya to replace him, Shatty, Franson and Wideman are the viable right handed options for an upgrade

Always liked Ohdoya, UFA next season though. What would you send back to Dallas?

won't have to be much for an impending 35 year old free agent, probably just a draft pick

Damn! He's 35? I'm getting old, thought he was 29 or 30.
Still take him for the rest of the year for a pick.

I'm not knocking Nash really but maybe you guys can give me your opinion. I think Nash is a better all around player than Tavares a good pk man very good on d always backchecks and no water skiing. Jt a better offensive player. All things equal I would take Nash every time imho.
- Bobd62

VERY hard to compare the 2. one is a center one is a winger. I think Nash has the overall better game. but Tavares is a magician with the way he sees the ice some times. plus Tavares has never really had a "good" team around him. Nash has played on the rangers when they went the EC finals.

The next time Nash has an 80 point season will be the first time. Tavares has already done it twice and is only 26. Tavares > Nash.

should be Step off the PP and replaced with Hayes. every time Step gets the puck on the boards he just passes it right back to McD. no shot. never. need more shooters on the PP.

next time Tavares has 40 goals will be his first... you can argue it either way. all i am saying, is i dont think its fair to compare the 2. Tavares plays Center so is naturally more valuable. Good centers are hard to find.
