Whose consensus? Barrie has had a down year. He's pretty much Jake Gardiner.
- iTOLDu

I'd take Gardiner over Barrie all day any day.

I don't watch enough Avs hockey to make this determination.

They are quite similar. JVR is worth far more. If he does get moved, the package will be substantial. Top 4D and a 1st or descent prospect is my guess.

I dont even like JVR but I wouldn't trade him for Barrie.
- Aetherial

Id rather not... but that's how the market is now..

And can we please not focus on size? When has it ever mattered?

I'd rather an Ellis/Barrie/Spurgeon over Komisarek.. (extreme example but still)

They are similar except for size and salary.
And Gardiner is a better skater.

There wasnt much to suggest it last time either, except shots against.

These kids could easily hit a wall.

Now could they hit an 18 wheeler wall....I dont think (or hope), doesnt seem like it.
But its the leafs...so you never know.

- Fakepartofme

They could..

But I'm really hoping they change the meaning of "it's the leafs" or "that's Leafy" this year.

I don't know if it's lack of hockey sense the fact that he's a risk taker.
Lets face it, he ain't strong enough to be sitting back.

Best contract in the league. For someone like Chicago or ANA who are seeing their times to get a cup closing it will be easy imo. Fowler and the 22-28th pick? I could easily see either team doing this especially since they get him for another year or they could in turn trade him in the offseason or next year's deadline to get assets back.

Too late.

They solidified "(frank)ing Leafy" in game 1 when they blew a 4-0 lead and ruined Matthews' big night

Then blew 2/3/4 goal leads multiple times over the course of the first half. Like double digit amounts of times

That's Leafy as it gets

Why would they trade JVR or anybody else for that matter, unless they fall right out of the playoffs?

If we took a cap dump with it, we could get a 1st + top 4 D I think

We'll be lucky to hit the cap floor next season as it is

This.

That's why I feel it will be an off-season deal. Feels like a summer trade

Sometime in June I fully expect a Fowler for JVR trade with other pieces tossed in
