Robin Lehner in net tonight. Leafs better make sure it doesn't turn into an MMA bout out there.

I find getting to 4 in a row more impressive than winning 1
- senstroll

More impressive that the 2 Dallas won against the Bills? Or the 3 in 4 years?

There's nothing to suggest an incoming 18 wheeler scenario.

This team is so much more vibrant than past teams. Good, goalie with a decent backup I think they'll make a run.. if they can get passed the first round that would be huge.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

Likely play Ottawa or Boston inthe first round so a second round isn't beyond the realm of possibilities.

You are also possibly guilty of cliche here. I believe there are good players from England, quite a few in fact. There is a huge gaping hole in the belief and leadership mentality with that national team. In short, they need their own version of a Shanaplan.
- fifty__missions

I think they need to teach them the rhythm of the Spanish or the cold discipline of the German's.

Pretty sure it would be a first round exit, which would be fine. Hawks and Penguins weren't even near the playoffs in their first year after drafting franchise players
- BestRapperAlive

The Hawks and Penguins aren't the Leafs..

Put Matthews/Marner aside along with Sid/Geno Kane/Toews...

What does the supporting cast look like?

I think people put too much emphasis on past teams or historical norms.. Just look at how well the team is playing, that's a true indication of how good they are. I don't think there's any team they can't beat. I know this is very homerish, but there's something special about Matthews..

If you win there's never a leadership problem..

There may still be good English footballers, but Germany, Spain, Argentina, Brazil and probably 5-6 more countries in Europe are better.. That kinda makes them the Latvia/Denmark of hockey..

It actually is, although I imagine the fans would have traded the 4 tries for a win.

He ain't big time, Frenchie. It's all over for that boy. And I'm glad you didn't post a pic of him in a Liverpool jersey. I'm sure its coming next...

The consensus is that JVR wouldn't fetch Barrie..

So I'm kinda using that as a guideline..

You'd think a 15-22 pick plus a decent prospect would at least get the ball rolling.

I don't know Colorado players very well, but I'd think Johnson would be a better target than Barrie, wouldn't he?

Edit: Broken leg I guess

Well, yes, I'm not debating that those teams are currently better. But you seem to be saying that they cannot or will not ever compete with those teams again because of the quality of the players coming from England. I don't agree and don't think it is an individual skill thing, but a problem with the national side program and mentality, which must obviously be improved. wth anyway - I don't even cheer for England - Vive la France!

Whose consensus? Barrie has had a down year. He's pretty much Jake Gardiner.

small, offensive D on a 5.5 cap hit for 3 years after this one?

I cant see the Leafs needing him all that much.

All Leafs D need to be puck movers..

That's how they beat teams, quick transitions.

I honestly don't know anything about English coach/leadership/development..

I just See English fans come into these tournaments with so much cautious optimism only to be let down..

There wasnt much to suggest it last time either, except shots against.

These kids could easily hit a wall.

Now could they hit an 18 wheeler wall....I dont think (or hope), doesnt seem like it.
But its the leafs...so you never know.
