I don't think it is very realistic though for the 2nd to happen without the first.

Do I think Leafs will trade Nylander? No - I don't believe so.
Do I think Leafs should trade Nylander? Yes, probably if they can get the topline RH d-man in exchange.

I prefer Leafs winning titles over anything else - don't see how that can be done without an important trade.

The debate is probably moot for now, because it's already hard enough to make trades in the league, and then the expansion draft further complicates things. I do agree I don't think they'll trade Nylander anytime soon, they'll be patient. The ideal scenario is enough of their prospects other than the big 3 work out so well that they have pieces other than those three to trade.

The good news is everything is going better than one could have hoped at this point but the Leafs still don't have any pressure to go for it anytime soon so they can wait and find the right move for the long term instead of acting under pressure like previous regimes.
