Halak has mental breakdowns but doesnt suck for sure, if it worked last year, why wouldnt it work this year ....
- Ur Not Me

:Yup, that sums up Halak. He can stand on his head for 2 1/2 periods, then begins to have mental breakdowns, as you put it. I will never forget that game against Philly 2 seasons ago that ultimately cost us home ice against the Caps. With 2 seconds left, the Philly forward flicks the puck harmlessly from the side boards in the direction of goal, and Halak, who had played well up until that point, lets it go in under his arm. Isles came away with only one point in a game that they were all but certain to get two.

I thought the whole idea of signing Ladd was to play him with JT? 5 games is a joke. JT missed camp and it was going to take time.
- ses111

Was it really only 5 games? I thought it was more like 8 or 9 games before he got demoted....

Prediction:

There will be many changes in the offseason, the offense will improve greatly. But Snow will trade Greiss at the deadline and try to go with Berube in goal next year and it will be disastrous.

Wait a minute chief. You think Garth will still be GM?

Dude this is like when you're a kid and you get caught lying and your parents are phucking with you being extra nice.......only to have the hammer drop. The minute this team hires a president, Snow can pack his things. Im hoping its before the draft.
Im also hoping the president is not from Massachusettes.

Halak has had plenty of breakdowns with and without the 3 goalies. I really think they lose to Florida if Halak plays instead of Greiss.

Don't get me wrong, I'm hoping you're right. But as my Grandfather often says "hope in one hand and poop in the other, see which one fills up faster".

Hahah There's just no rationale for keeping a guy who's had 10 years at the helm and won 1 playoff round........only to be last in the east now.
Bring in a President who's respected around the league, and who's been part of a winning franchise. Preferably not someone from Mass. I said yesterday I'd love if they could lure Messier as president. (You know the famous Oiler)

Would you not rather have someone more experienced in such a position?

Imagine this thread and the Ranger thread if Isles hired Messier?

I still want Tallon as President and GM.

Look no further than the Bridgeport Soundtigers. Snows had 10 years of drafting and accumulating picks, and yet the best they have to call up is "the other" Gionta??? Ten years later and the Soundtigers are 8th in the east. After all that drafting, the minor league team should be among the elite in the A.........not a fringe playoff team.

Messier, is like Yzerman......they are winners. They know what it takes to win, and are extremely respected around the league. I want Mess as president.....not coach or GM. I want him picking the GM, etc.

Look the Rags had a chance to hire mess as GM and passed on him. I want him as President, not GM. He brings instant credibility.

Just curious. Does Messier have management experience? Or is it just based on his career as a great player? Not trying to be a Richard, but playing and managing teams require different skill sets. Otherwise, Gretzky, G Howe, Bobby Orr all would have made great managers ....... but none did.

Still very surprised he was not hired by the Rangers. Messier as president may work? I'm not sure how many experienced presidents are even available to the Isles?

Fair ppoint, and im all about a discussion.......i know you're not being a d1ck. I liken Messier to Yzerman......they were both some of the greatest Captains to ever play the game. When I see what Yzerman has done of there in Tampa in 5 years, it makes me think Messier can do the same. Every player who's ever played with Messier talks about his leadership, and how he was the best. Because of the respect around the league, I can see him bringing in the proper GM etc. Not just some friend from college in Mass.

Its a pipe dream......as I dont see him coming to the isles. My only hope was because they snubbed him, he'd have an ax to grind.

Regardless......did Yzerman really have much experience? Look at what he's done. He and Messier are VERY similar guys. Epitome of winners...

Im just coming up with something that I think would be a winning situation for sake of discussion. There's a few guys who were players 15 or so years ago, who were very respected and now have taken roles in the front office. Yzerman, Hull and Shanahan, and I think Messier could do the same.

I think there was talk of Messier becoming assistant GM to Sather and it never happened. I think it's worth at least Ledecky talking to Messier. He talked to Gretzky. I do not think the job was offered to him.

not entirely true,

Bailey, JT, Dehaan, Hamonic, Cizikas, Mayfield, Pelech, Pulock, Barzal, MDC, Ho-Sang, Beau, Quine, Strome, Nelson, Lee, etc still with organization

Martin, Reindhart, Nino, Pokka, Poulin, Nilsson etc are now gone or traded away

My point being is that most of his picks are currently on team
