A Canucks poster proposed (jokingly) this:

"Ok its time for my crazy ass trade offer...
Carve me up idc 😂😂

JVR/1/2 for Tanev/JV/Hansen "

He began to say that JVR alone is worth way more than Tanev.

JVR is having a tremendous year and is on pace for 30 goals and 70+ points. The ONLY thing people were saying is that given the current pricing set by that idiot Peter Chirelli, It isn't so much of a lopsided trade (revisiting Hall for Larsson). He began to talk about the difference between Tanev's points and JVR's points and I simply stated apples and oranges. Breakout year for a 2nd line winger vs points as a 1st line defensive D-man, points should not be in the equation.

I respect your opinion Codes, but I can't agree.

The ONLY reason Tanev is even close is the ridiculous premium for semi-competent D.

I quoted this same mess on a Leafs thread earlier today.

The more egregious opinion was that the guy wanted a top-7 or better for Virtanen.

Virtanen isn't worth a late 1st rounder at this point. We keep hearing his game is being rounded out nicely in Utica but his stats say otherwise.

Leafs would be better if dubas was in charge

He wasn't the only dubois lover, lots of guys on here were speaking about him being new leafs gm in 2-3 years after he joined the org..

remember in the summer when most of us agreed that the Leafs and Sabres are on par with each other? and that Sabres fans thought they were for sure ahead in the rebuild?

good times...

Even if you wanna argue Matthews, Marner and Rielly vs Eichel, Reinhart and Ristolainen, I think it's the secondary rookies that have separated us. Brown, Hyman, Zaitsev, Soshnikov have all been playing really well. Excited to see what Lipstick, Kapanen, Bracco, Dermott and Neilsen at the NHL level one day

and Freddy...

but yeah.. I'm not sure a team this young and new to each other has ever come together like this before. I think having youngish vets in Naz, Rielly, Bozak, JVR and the best coach in the world helps.

this girl on my 600 pound life has areas of fat that are so wierd I can't even tell what body part it is. Could be ass? thigh? back? boobs? knee? labia? I can only see the big bulbous part at the end, the origin is more mysterious than the pyramids.

I love when they show them chowing down on burgers and fries and then they can't understand why they aren't losing weight.

This situation is somehow analogous to Spatso life.

The kid seems to have the tools to succeed.

You can't really trade him now. His value is too low. It is like what Edmonton faced with Yakupoo. You just gotta wait it out and hope he turns it around.

Matthews and Marner all day over Reinhart and Eichel.

Risto over Rielly though.

Yes, the supporting cast is much stronger in Toronto.

I always assumed Lou's 3 year contract was a bridge to Dubois as the GM at the end of it. Basically, he's a smart kid, but he needs a few years under Lou to get acclimated to the old boys network to the point that they take him seriously. In that short run as acting GM they really tried to take advantage of him. Not his fault, just the way the league is.

Not a good look when the team leader is losing it in front of his boys and the coaching staff.

I call that bad leadership. Bad body language.

- Garth

(He was talking about Jamie Benn breaking hockey sticks)

... but Eichel's little dressing room outburst was good leadership because it shows how much he really really REALLY cares.

Patrick Kane's rookie season:

82 GP - 21 G - 51 A - 72 Points.

Mitch Marner's rookie season projected to 82 GP:

82 GP - 20 G - 50 A - 70 Points.

As a father of a 5 year old son, and being a die hard fan, this Leaf rebuild is huge for me.

Understandably, alot of kids in the GTA grew up fans of other teams over the last decade more than ever. From Corset jerseys to Toews, kids grew up in their jerseys and fans of those teams. I was a bit worried my boy would grow up a fan of another team once he hit school and liking stars on other teams was the cool thing to do and he'd grow up a fan of another team.

I'm no longer worried. Marner and Matthews will change everything. Sure it will still happen but kids in the new generation can wear the teams colours and jerseys with pride. Hopefully it becomes the cool thing to do again. Sure is heading that way

The franchise at this point is on the back's of Demko, Juolevi and Boeser as far as prospects go. If Virtanen can be anything more than a 3rd line, we will be lucky. No matter how much we scream for trades and draft picks, I don't think our management are going down that route.

His trade out of Toronto was joyous so he's only a close second...

We should all remember who called him the second coming of Raycroft once Toronto traded for him.

Pretty impressive since I believe scoring was higher then than it is now.

I think we would be very happy with that. I am not sure many or any of us predicted that much at the beginning of the season.

In fact a number of people felt he should go back to junior...

Also a factor that he had just one single team to deal with due to limited NTC and teams that could fit him in. But some folks (not you) seem to think that they themselves could do better.

Lolz.

Plus, Marner is averaging 17:03 per game in ice time, whereas Kane averaged 18:21 in his rookie season. Given Marner played a ridiculous level of minutes per game in London, I have no doubt he could handle more ice time (PK would be nice), but I understand Babcock's work them in slow approach when it comes to player development.
