Don't give the Hawks a thing...no thanks. Let us tank in peace so we can lose our worthless GM and rebuild in peace.

Shane Doan has a NMC , why would he leave the warmth of the desert for the wasteland cold of Montreal.

Ends up in sj - if anywhere, is my guess.

You are missing the point of trading Vanek. The Wings suck. Trade him to the highest bidder period.

Y'all didn't go to Eklund's skool of grammer obv.

with a strong pointing towards a "Big" deal as I wrote about yesterday, and again today, on another note, a good chance that Shane Doan could be in their crosshairs....

Point 1. The strong is pointing. What is it pointing at? a "Big" deal.
Point 2. Note the quotes on "Big", meaning not big. Picture Ek speaking this and using his claws as air quotes.
Point 3. Ignore the fact that Ek got great boxing week sales on commas. After pointing towards "Big" (which we know is small), there is ", on another note," before mentioning the possibility of Shane Doan being assassinated. So there could be a "Big" trade AND a Shane Doan something something.

[quote=Xizord]The only way I'm happy with Doan coming in is if its for plek and we cleared that salary for next year
So what would be in the Yotes best interest with this plan? Gonna have to add a real good prospect or high pick, I think.

Last time he was the big prize of the deadline he was AWFUL.
I'm sure teams will not be selling the farm to acquire him.

He was actually pretty good during the regular season with MTL, it's in the playoffs that he disappeared.

Trading Vanek is the smart move. I don't think the Wings have a worthless GM. Last I checked it was still Holland, and he's doing a pretty good job of keeping the team afloat.

Most Wings' fans today don't understand what it means to be truly terrible. They seem to think that missing the playoffs for a year or two is all you need to go from terrible to contender, and it's not. 10 years, maybe, but not 2-3. Because of this ignorance, many Wings fans want Holland fired. However, if you paid attention to more than just the red wings over the past 25 years, you would realize how foolish you sound.

True... I guess my memory goes straight to how awful he was during the playoffs. Probably because his bookie was threatening to break his legs.

Horse hockey! I agree that Vanek should be dealt to get some assets for the future. But Holland has lost his touch. Handing out long term high money deals to guys like Helm, Abby, Glendening, who are nothing more than 3rd and 4th line players who are only playing top minutes because there's nobody else. All Holland and ownership care about now is extending the streak. This team is not equipped to win a Cup, or maybe even make the playoffs. All Holland wants to do is keep this team in the hunt for a playoff spot. He should be building the Wings to win a Cup, not just make the post season. As for the Dead Wings days? I know all about them years, I'm nearly 70 yrs old and I lived through all of it. And if Holland and ownership doesn't get it in gear and really build this team to win big, those years will come back.

Caps just tied things up. Pen fans must be embarrassed with the two stiffs on the broadcast. Barely acknowledge the Caps have scored.

in what feels like such a typical and great Blackhawks move..are working hard to get Vanek, and sooner than later. The belief is that Vanek is a much better player when he plays alongside skilled players...C

this post is completely asinine, but thanks for brightening up my day with some humour

Lol when they spent about 30 seconds mumbling about Crosby's little pass after the face-off. These two muppets are the worst commentators in sport (or atleast the NHL).

I've had to listen to them numerous times over the years and it is almost painful - usually just laughable.

The homerism is strong with these ones.

I mean, is there anyone else out there on the LW market? Ya he's 32 but he is 12-18--30 on the year and Toews hasn't had a solid line mate on his left side since Saad. What do we really think it would take to pry him from Detroit?
