What Provorov brings to the team is obvious, but he has has a handful of unfortunate mishaps.. I know hes young but maybe it isn't the best idea to have him leading the team in ice time

I can live with a 20 year old making the odd gaff....that's how a kid learns...I hope they actually bring up other youngsters and give them a taste.

They looked great through one period. Back checking and skating, dominated play but could not score. The 2nd period they were outplayed but only one goal against via an ugly turnover. The third period was awful.

The team is only as good as its weakest part. And they have lots of weak parts from goalie to individual D guys to team D to forwards. Lots of mismatches vs good teams, especially on the road. And these mismatches create turnovers which lead to tons of chances and odd man rushes and goals.

I don't think there is an easy answer, except keep to the draft and develop path Hexy is on.

I do think they should try to sell pending UFAs at the TDL.

No long term deals for a goalie at this point either.

Its not really mistakes you can learn from. Its fanning on shots/passes, slipping on stops and coughing up the puck that always seems to end with an opponent goal

Yep.

Fact: Both Mason and Neuvirth are good goalies. Each is good enough to be part of a team that goes far in the playoffs. Neither is elite, nor will they be. Both will steal a game here and there and both will lose a game or two (or a few more than that) here and there. That's how it goes. Most teams are in that boat. Neither was the reason for the two losses this weekend. Very few teams have elite goalies. So what needs to be done is to make the rest of the team better.* It's not an easy thing do to and will take some more time to get a better player mix through trades and maturation of younger players.

* first person to say the answer is to "get CV out of the lineup" gets a kick in the pucks

This.. Outside of the truly elite, goalies are so volatile on a year-to-year basis. There are only 2 or 3 of them in the league at one time, so its not like the Flyers will be able to pull one of them from their hats.

Mason's struggles may benefit the flyers in the long run. They should be able to sign him for a short-term deal, and maybe even at less of a cap hit.

THIS!

Ivan is playing as much as he is due to him being the best option coach has for those minutes. Yes he will make mistakes but that comes with being a rookie.
