Absolutely. Trade Mason at the Deadline. Resign Neuvirth who splits the crease with Stolarz. Bring Sandstrom over from Sweden to play with Lyon in Lehigh next season.
- Slipperypickle

I agree completely , from what I saw from Stolarz with the limited playing time he got he seemed like he might be the real deal. Give the guy a shot already , he's 23 why not

Give him players to play with that can actually create offense. He's been doing it by himself for years now and its caught up to him. The Flyers need another offensive game breaker, and they have a wealth of D prospects to do something about it. If I'm Hextall I'm trading Sanheim, Laughton and a 1st for Duchene yesterday. Make a move do something to shake it up or if not at least call up some of the young guys who have the speed that is needed to win in this NHL. Leier is such a fast skater and would help this team a lot in that department if he stayed up but instead the coach insists on playing Vandevelde and Weiss guys who can't skate and obviously aren't helping the team defensively like they are apparently supposed to be doing. Give some of the younger guys a chance the vets are doing nothing to impress me at all.
- FreshFlyer

Hell no I am not trading Sanheim, Morin or Myers. this team needs to upgrade the defense.

They're going to have to trade one of the D prospects eventually that's just how it works. They don't have much in terms of high end offensive prospects to come in and fill the void and they need another offensive threat badly. It's got to come from somewhere, you can't just trade Amac and raffl for a dynamite offensive player unfortunately.

So, anyone think we'll be better than 5th in the wildcard race when this 6 day break is over?

I hope they all get sunburned

I know you are simply trolling people because I like to think you're not this ridiculous but I'll play....Neuvirth gives up 2 vs tampa and wins. Mason follows with 2 against Columbus but loses. funny how that works
- nastyflyergirl

This teams problems are way beyond goaltending they simply aren't good enough.
VdV: borderline NHL player
PEB: generic 4th liner
Lyubimov: good 4th liner, lacks the hands to play higher in the lineup
Read: at age 30, injury prone borderline 3rd liner
Cousins: fringe NHL player
Raffl: generic 3rd liner
Weise: solid, but way overpaid 4th liner
Schenn: pp monster, but a 3rd liner player at ES
Couturier: prototype 3rd line C on a Cup team, so-so as a 2C
Konecny: talented kid, but hitting a wall. Has great potential

That basically leaves for your top 6:
Giroux: pp beast, but no more than a 2C at ES
Simmonds: quality 2nd line RW, pp beast and one of the few guys on this team that plays with any heart
Jake: solid 1st line wing

And the D is worse:
Schultz: fading 3rd pair vet
Streit: aging pp specialist, no better than 3rd pair at ES
Manning: generic 3rd pair guy
AMac: solid, but overpaid 4/5 guy, being asked to do WAY too much
Gudas: average 2nd pair guy who is playing hurt
MDZ: average 2nd pair guy who is in a slump
Ghost: offensive talent, having a sophomore slump. Solid future 2nd pair, top pp QB
Provorov: just turned 20, and being asked to do way too much at this point in his career. Potential to be future #1 Dman

They just aren't good enough and when you add so-so coaching and struggling goaltending to mix you get the mess that we are all suffering through.

seriously, if you are Hextall, where do you go from here?

I think he moves a defenseman ASAP at the minimum. 8 guys healthy is not a great situation. And maybe 1-2 more D men moved at the TDL.

I don't see either goalie or MDZ getting a new contract at this point.

Does he try and trade a core forward? I don't see it happening, but who knows.

Keep drafting and developing. Seriously did people expect more than being a bubble playoff team?

Am I wrong for believing because Brett Hextall played for Hakstol, so this was Ron Hextall's only real resource for a coach? It also doesn't help that the same loyalty oozes on to Chris Vandevelde, which is why he's never scratched.
- SuperSchennBros

I really hope that's not true.

I was hoping for just that. They look solidly out and potentially drafting in the hated 11-15 spot

would you re sign either goalie?
- Marc D

Not before the end of the season. I am always for looking at all options. I personally think Mason is a solid goalie. Neuvy is too but his issue is his health. I don't care who the goalie is, keep giving up this many prime scoring chances and keep playing pitiful team defense like this no goalie is going to succeed. the defense must be upgraded, the team defense must be better. the team needs to add more skill and speed. I would kill for a 4th line like Washington. I hate our bottom 6. not all 6 players of course but you know what I mean. this team has holes. that is a no poop comment. we knew that coming into the season. we all got giddy with the 10 game win streak cause it was fun to see winning hockey but take away those 10 games. not good.

mason loses funny how that works

and Neuvy controlled the fact the Flyers scored 4 against a stamkos less non playoff team and 1 against a then division leading Columbus team. It was also Mason's fault they lost to Boston. I seriously have to bite my tongue with you
