That piss poor coach Stevens now has two cups in LA. I don't get the knock on Hextall that he's loyal. The guy helped build the Kings from a dumpster fire into one of the best minor league systems, with a cup to boot. What he learned there he is applying here. Do you really think Hextall is going to choose "his guy" over getting Philly a cup? - feelingkettle
I think he believes Hak is the guy to get that done. I do think G goes before Hak if it comes down to it.
As for Stevens and Berube. Absolute trash in their time coaching the Flyers. Some many see it otherwise, thats cool. |

Sure they would, doesn't mean he has to make a bad deal. There are also other teams that are poop shows that could make a decent trading partner - 3flyerkids
You have to consider why you're making a deal. Read Hextall's statement. If you're making a deal because the team is playing poorly right now, you probably shouldn't make a deal. This is a bad time to evaluate your team.

G's contract will make trading him extremely difficult. At this point, I don't think he or Hak is going anywhere. |

In terms of G. I think a team like Vegas, Calgary, Columbus, or Winnipeg would have true interest. Maybe some others.
Taking back salary would be a thing of course.
I have a voodoo vibe if it happens it will be Colorado. |

If any GM thinks that it's their coach over their franchise player, then they're a (frank)ing idiot.
I was no fan of Stevens, but you don't win two cups as any coach if you are absolute trash. Berube is what he is, but Hak doesn't seem to be doing much better with the same players.
Flyers' biggest problem over the years has been their long term prospect/drafting plan. Hextall is finally turning that around. It would be stupid of him to throw that all away for a coach people seems to think he favors. |

No trades. We've been down this trade G road before. G can still contribute on the PP big time and is a good face off guy.
Don't worry about cap numbers. There is nothing that will ever become available on the Ufa market that is going to push this team into contender status. The growth and the search for 1C will come from within. Perhaps soon at the draft there will be a time for a big move up the board where you can throw picks/prospects together to move up and hit on a big time piece |

I think even talk of trading G is reactionary and desperate. We know what kind of player he can be. He's having a poopty go right now, but so is everyone else.
Hey guys, let's trade everyone when they start to suck! It's the Flyers way. |

The question becomes, does Hex believe Giroux is his franchise player of the future? |

I agree.. Colorado could be a trading partner. Don't know what players, but they could be a team to deal with

If we are at that, I would say the Flyers way is to be stubborn to league trends and they think know best only to have it be shoved up their ass.
Anyway, I do hope they keep G. How you find that young "next Giroux" so to speak? Who the hell knows. |

My question is, who cares right now? If they continue to draft well, then they will either find someone if G isn't, or make a trade from a position of strength that fills that need but doesn't destroy the team long term. Again, look at what the Kings did. |

Depends for who.
Want nothing to do with Landeskog. Assets for another "good two way winger" with questionable offensive creativity. Exciting. |

Hexy is not the Flyers way of the past, which is good.
Giroux was drafted 22nd overall. It's definitely not impossible to replace him if the Flyers continue to draft well. |

I would care at this time. I want nothing to do with Giroux is this is truly what the 'new' G is. That contract would need to be dumped off asap before other teams realize.
I dont think thats the case, its just talk of hypothethicals. Calm yourself sir. |

I think its something that needs to be looked at sooner than later.
The Flyers waited too long to look at fixing a d-core that we are now waiting and hoping arrives before the decline of the forwards. |

C'mon man, we just need the right miracle worker coach in here. If Stevens decides to put his name in the hat for a head coaching job, it won't take long for him to get a job. Berube wasn't a bad coach either, but might be better suited as an assistant.

Nobody knows if this is the new G. Which is why people should stop overreacting and give it some time.
Not sure if you are projecting on telling me to calm down, but I'm not the one who's worried about the future. |

Berube & Stevens will never be hired as NHL head coaches again. You can take that to the bank.
Another brilliant Holmgren move, hiring coach facepunch. |
