I don't see it. He is homegrown talent that they can control as an RFA. meaning they can get him on a cheaper contract.

as for getting D that is all up to JVR. I believe they can sign him this July if they choose so? either way if JVR is willing to sign at a hometown discount to stay then they will package prospects, picks for D.

edit: Alzner or Shattenkirk is a real possibility as well
