When a pro team keeps making the same mistakes, it tells me one of 2 things are happening:

1. The coach is inept
Or
2. The players have tuned out the coach

I don't think Hak is inept, though I question many of his lineup choices, so that means he's not reaching these guys. If that is the case, you need the either Fire the coach or trade a core player or 2.

Something has to give. I can handle losing because they are rebuilding and just aren't good enough yet, but I'm sick and tired of watching veteran players coast, make bonehead plays and take asinine penalties.

The numbers tell a bit of a different story. I don't think MJL is off-base when he says the forwards need to be better defensively as well.

I agree about the forwards, which is why I said the whole team's been bad. But at this point, Ghost has not been a game changer in a positive way. Do I think they'd be winning this game with Ghost in the lineup? Nope. Which is why I don't really care about him being scratched.

Some fans want to weakly blame the scapegoats or the defenseman. This teams attention to detail both in coverage and in puck management is the issue. Its as much on the forwards if not more. For example on the Chara goal, there were two forwards covering one point leaving Chara wide open for the shot. Clueless.

In my opinion Mac has been no worse than Manning, Del Zotto and Ghost in recent games. The problem with Mac is where and has been used. He sticks out negatively next to a kid who is clearly out playing him. Regardless if fans view Provorov/MacDonald or Del Zotto/Gudas as the top pair, MacDonald doesn't look like he belongs most nights.

If Hextall thinks things are going bad with Hak, then he'll get rid of him in a reasonable way. I don't think there's a chance he's going to trade a core player at this point for a glimmer of home in a pile of poop. That's how we got JVR for Luke Schenn.

It's been an epidemic this season. None look interested in back checking.
