Although i still stand by my prediction that there will be little trade movement at the TDL this year, especially from the Canucks, it's still fun to dream.

Here are my dream trades (yet still somewhat based in reality).

Burrows and Sbisa to Mtl for Juulsen. Van can retain salary and/or take salary back as required.
Mtl gets a top 4 D they need (this year and beyond) and Burrows, who can play up and down the roster. I don't really know how they'd fit the salary in though.

Hansen to Pitts for a 2nd rounder. Seems like a good fit for Pitts.

Miller to Dallas for Niemi, Nichushkin. Old idea, we take on a avg goalie for next year (gives Marky a decent back up for another year until Demko is ready), plus take a flyer on a risky ruskie.

Personally I don't think the playoffs should be a building team's goal, hear me out on this, I think it should to play the right way (in all three zones), to play with structure as a five man unit, to draft and develop and to continually get better as individuals.

If you keep adding quality young players to a group that plays well together, the wins will come and the playoffs will follow.

If you just say our goal is to make the playoffs you can make poor management decisions grasping for something that isn't within reach. I'd rather they made the playoffs with an actual chance to win.

So if this is happening then they could make the playoffs. That's the rub if you are playing well you make it. Could you not say quality young players have been added on D and forward? More are coming. (BB, OJ & JV) others will be drafted regardless of draft position.

THE transition is happening. Whether they make the playoffs or not is not "a goal" it's the trying part. The issue on development may be with coaching decions where it's the goal. The right way of playing gets thwarted for the goal. For Management it's a desire but not at the expense of development and the future.

I was going to pick at Hansen getting us a late 2nd rounder I guess I should be happy if JB is able to make any of those moves.

Ok, that is what I was referring too. It's just a line has done that and yet they are still deplaoyed as the top line.

That's not on them.

Looking at them teams (add in Jets) I don't see the Canucks being out of their league trending down. McJesus aside. Who drives the entire Oil.

I envision BB having a strong rookie season in the top 9. Better then Trat. Could rival Laine and Mathews production. Add in rebuilt by Green JV to the coming out Svens, Bo, Granlund and versatile gamer Sutter. Plus the remaining savvy vets the Nucks got game. Then when Sedins fade out of top 9 you got three JB drafts of new players where two more can fill the top 9 role and build from there.

Possible it's looking up in that scenario. Imagine Bo (as a Toews type) BB (Kane role) OJ (Lidstrom role) LE (Hossa role) Demko and Marky tandem. Add in the rest of the supporting cast like Sutter, Sven, JV, Tree, Stecher, Guddy Etc. start of peaking this is a compete team. Minus the super star savior. Sprinkle in those new JB draft picks to make up for it.

Pretty lofty expectations no? He probably puts up 20ish goals though one would think. Which would be a pretty good start to his career

look at the last 2 seasons...nothing. Its Jarvis that came in a gave a decent defensive structure. Remember there are several coaches, why does WD get credit for propensities???? Its clearly another persons credit.
- SMBDragon

Because ultimately the final decsion is his…'head' coach and all that.

Sure Jarvis has helped but not to the extent you claim…the fact that we have Tree Stech Hutton and Guddy here helps and that Sbisa is playing way better which you can't fully credit Jarvis on. We have changed the PERSONNEL on D which in every way has been the difference as much (if not more than Jarvis).
