That's fair Ses, he seems like the teflon coach.
After watching last nights game, don't know why I do that to myself, where the team did a full reversal of what they did well against the Cats( as poopty as they are ) I would have fired Zippy today with an interim coach and I wouldn't care who it is. - nyisles7
I have no doubt Garth's hands are all over coaching decisions as well, but that's Cappy's fault if he allows it. Cappy is not getting a pass because JT does not have a star wing. We've seen coaches with much less talent than the Isles do a heck of a lot better than Cappy. Teams have gotten to Cups wit less talent. |

Brooksie??? Are you guys teammates? Or just {ahem} "partners"? - JohnScammo
I have always called him that since Torts would call him that.
I used to watch every Rags post game on line when they lost waiting for" Brooks" to ask his question. Good times. |

Been wondering that myself, capt...... So I came up with a theory. Snow is trying to hide Pulock in the AHL, so that he doesn't have to protect him in the expansion draft. - JohnScammo
Ridiculous as it is simply because he obviously can't( as you know) I can see him doing it. He's that (frank)ing stupid. Like some half arsed distraction technique |

So in other words, you are willing to settle for mediocrity. You wanted Snow to go all out to squeeze 3 guys under the cap, just so the Islanders would make the playoffs? I'm not even sure it would have been possible, but those 3 were all non-factors in the playoffs. I blame Snow for a lot of things, but shaking up the core is not one of them. - JohnScammo
I agree. Just making the playoffs was nice against the Pens, but winning one round in years with the same core is not the answer. Garth was right in changing the core, but wrong in how he went about it. We cannot forget how frustrated this team made us many nights with KO, Frans, and Martin on the team. How many times this team was not ready to play. |

He shook it up alright JS.
Where did that lead us
You don't rip apart your core especially when it's finally on an upward trend. You add to it. That's what real GMs that know how to manage the cap do it. The Ladd signing is the second coming of Wade Redden only worse because its bonus laden. Ladd for 5.5 per and 2-3 years older than KO ? KO would have been the better signing. Maybe he was better than you all gave him credit for, numbers/results don't lie. Anyone that says Snow got it right with letting 3 core guys walk is BSing or just defending their own wrong opinion about KO and Frans. Growing together as a team and creating chemistry is what makes championship teams. Not ripping apart what is starting to come together and flip a coin if replacements wil work and or gel with your team. |

how can you say Garf Bag was right in changing the core but went about it wrong
If I'm going to change something I better have a plan in place to replace what I'm losing before I rip it down.
That said Garth failed on both fronts. He had a playoff team a couple of pieces away and instead of adding those pieces he gutted the team. No one can convince me other wise. It can be said but it won't convince me.

That all sounds nice, but there wasn't cap room to sign all 3, let alone "add to it". You can certainly blame Snow for that, and I wouldn't disagree. You can also say he should have finagled some team into trading for one of the overpaid players.......Bailey, Kuli, Grabo, Halak, whomever. Easier said than done.
The team sucks. The buck stops with Snow. I eagerly await a PoHO to be hired and assume office. Clearly, Snow is in over his head. He totally screwed up, losing Nielsen. But no one predicted how bad Ladd was going to be. We can only hope that a better coach will get more out of him. |

Off topic, but did anyone see that The Greatest Show On Earth, aka Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus is closing down? Their final performance? The Nassau Coliseum in mid-May. It's a perfect irony that the clown show should perform for the final time at what was once the home for so many years of the NHL's clown show. |

The plan should have been trading Hamonic for Hall and then maybe bringing back Frans. As tough as this season has been, it will be all worth it if Garth and Cappy are gone. It's just hard to think the Isles were ever winning a Cup with Garth and Cappy in comtrol with or without KO and Frans and other pieces. |

It's not worth it if the incoming GM can't find the right pieces to complete the puzzle. Opportunities were lost that may not be replaceable. Garth should have been let go years ago or after the playoffs, where we limped our way to the 2nd round on 3 OT wins out of 4. Not exactly a dominating performance. Were it not for Alan Quine's OT winner.... |

New GM still has a lot of young pieces to work with especially with a real coach. Bad contracts are also coming off the books in a year. I agree Garth should have been replaced years ago. I cannot blame Ledecky for not doing it July, but he should have removed Garth earlier in the year. |
