I know but you figure this team competes it will be when they can roll three effective lines and a fourth one that doesnt suck ass.

I agree though bigger issues. If they can turn Moulson/Deslauriers into Nylander/someone else I'll be ecstatic.

Not sure how much more production comes from a 3rd line on the top teams. The three that were the perfect 3rd line, Foligno-Larsson-Gionta, have a combined 44 points. That's pretty decent I'd imagine (without doing tedious research).

I'm sure Foligno and Gionta might have gotten a few points since Larsson has been out, but that line has been so damn steady and productive this season.

Thats true, im just not willing to be that Gionta can maintain this for next year. If there's an upgrade available in FA or something they should look into that.

He was forcing him to drop his gloves though so he didn't go for 5 by himself, watch again he was trying to pull him back up to make sure he dropped them

Can't blame ya there, he does seem to be quite healthy though. He's only missed 16 games in the last 3 full seasons plus this half year (no games missed this year)

I think that's folly to sign the same guys and expect different results next year

That would be my concern as well. I understand why it might be best to move on at this point, but it irritates me when people say he "can't be on this roster next year" like he's been stinking the joint up all year. That is so not the case at all.

In some ways, I agree. But the issue with this team right now isn't really the in the forward ranks, it's the defense that needs major work.

If they don't do something to address that, we have some serious issues.

and now bylsmas replaced Larsson with eichel, so they'll just keep rolling along as that 3rd line. with eichel. on the third line.

I'd be fine without him being on the roster for all the same reasons as some others (big concern is age), but he's consistently been a top point getter on this roster the last 2 seasons. If he's gone and Deslauriers is here, that's a tragedy.

I'd like to see them send Carrier down, bring up Baptiste and Rodrigues (pair Jack up with his old teammate) and then sit Deslauriers. I'm not a Carrier hater, I just think he would be well-served to get back to scoring more regularly and come back hungry next season.

The issue I think we're seeing right now, is that by shifting Sam to center, we should probably be structured as a team with 3 scoring lines and then the "defensive" 4th line.

The problem, is that we don't have enough skilled wingers (particularly on the left side) in order to fill that out the right way. So anyway you slice it, there's going to be someone at center ice that's head and shoulders above the guys on their wings.

I don't know if there's a way to actually fix that this season without making a fairly sizable trade.

I seriously think he's punishing jack for speaking up and getting all uppity. old man disco is showing that young buck who's in charge. pathetic. neither foligno nor gionta can skate with him. jack just coasts around looking to fit in with his linies. its really pathetic. at least put him with SOMEBODY that can skate!

Murray was asked about him on WGR after the WJC tournament. I can guarantee that unless something catastrophic happens to the NHL roster, Nylander will not be getting any games here this year.

Murray liked what he did at the tourney, but said that they need to see more consistency out of him from one game to the next in Rochester. He'll come out in one game and kill it and then essentially poop the bed the next game. It's all part of them learning the pro game.

He does fully expect him to really compete for a spot on the roster next year though.

he's nightmarish in his own end and for a savvy veteran he takes his share of dumb penalties too, like last night.

More importantly, i dont know that betting one someone who will be 39 next year to be a solid contributor in your top 9 is such a good idea.

Well, if that's the case, all he's doing is probably making it easier for the Pegula's to give him his walking papers, because I just don't see a scenario where they choose to keep Bylsma over Jack.

I agree, but he pulled the same poop with Crosby. I really don't like this guy.
