I for one am quite sure no one on this board is privey to what Bylsma's actual message and mandate to his players is. That goes for "losing" the room as well. I'm not buying it.

I'm not a fan of Paul Hamilton in the least but every now and then he can produce something insightful. The other day he was expounding that the team was simply NOT doing what they are being coached to do. Some would say it's because they've tuned him out .......... someone else might say we've simply got the wrong players.

Here hoping that Bylsma simply lost this team!

This is sort of where I am at. Someone (I think 89) implied that Bylsma was fired in Pittsburgh because the likes of Crosby and Malkin basically pushed him out the door. I'm not going to dispute whether or not that is, in fact, correct, but that situation is apples and oranges. Both Crosby and Malkin are accomplished players. They have a plethora of awards, honors, and most importantly championships to their resumes (though only one at the time of Bylsma's firings). They have the status to make those kinds of demands.

This entire Sabres roster up and down has accomplished zero, with the exception of Gionta, who I believe was on one of the Devils Stanley Cup teams in the early 2000s. Ristolainen and Eichel haven't been in the NHL long enough to make these kinds of demands. The veterans that this team shelled out big bucks and/or assets for (O'Reilly, Okposo, and to a lesser extent Kane and Bogosian) all spent their careers on teams that were mediocre or worse. There is not one player on this roster that you can sit there and definitively say "that guy knows what it takes to win championships". Bylsma may or may not have lost the room, but that room is full of players that aren't good enough to make those kinds of demands. For a select few, you (hopefully) can add the word "yet" too, but it's not that many.

If he is let go, I believe the key reason will be the style of play he seems to have in place.

Others (many, most?) would say the players see Disco Dunce's system as a joke and aren't bought in and will not buy in because it sucks and doesn't match the skill set of the core players ... because Disco Dunce was never a core player and employs a 4th line grinder system.

And that might be the case. That needs to come from the GM saying "this isn't the kind of team I want to build". If it's a case of the players saying "this isn't the game we want to play", they have no leverage.

GMTM is more of a problem than Bylsma. We have the worst group of defensemen in the entire league. I heard on the radio yesterday that our best dmen (Risto and McCabe) are stinking it up when it comes to analytics (CORSI).

If Pegula hadn't given GMTM the extension before the season, I would have expected both to be given their walking papers at seasons end.

Now it looks like GMTM will get a chance to pick another coach.

So, am I the only one who thinks Bylsma is NOT the right coach for this team moving forward?!?!

A new coach wouldn't make a difference. Bottom line, we don't have enough good players to make a run at the playoffs. While ROR, Eichel, Risto, and Reinhardt are nice, that's all we have and it just isn't enough.

I think Gerbe will like this one in particular. But it's also my most reasonable one I did for next year

I like some of the things you did here. I like the Winnik signing and the RFA re-signings, although Lehner might get a bigger pay day, somewhere around $3.5M. Pu and Petersen could get the max cap hit ELC and love the Liljegren pick at 3, hopefully we will be there to pick it.

I'm not sure the Ennis trade makes sense or enough value in return and not sure it would be Calgary. I could see Dallas and him re-united with Ruff. The Leddy trade seems excessive and I would hate to move Baptiste at this time. But you have to give to get. My hope is Vegas takes Bogo.

Last 2 games, our franchise goalie let in 8 goals.
Should have started that ECHL scrub, who averages 3 a game according to some.
