You're better off asking the coaches and management. No offense to MJL, but he, nor any of us, know why the decisions are made.
Some folks agree with (or at a minimum are fine with) the use of the players currently available; some folks aren't. - Scoob
Agreed, all we can do is speculate and offer opinions. |

Scoob just get on board with the Vandevelde sucks train. Have you sent in your resume to the Flyers front office yet? - MJL
I did. They turned me down. Said I don't have enough armchair coaching experience. Nor do I copy/paste analysis well enough to be GM.

Perhaps it's not possible to explain to you. Yes, right now, Vandevelde is a better option in his role and spot in the lineup than Luybimov, Cousins, or Leier is. That's why he remains in the lineup. - MJL
That didnt explain how.
You are avoiding my question. Why are you avoiding my question?
And i never said the kids were a better option. I was asking why not give the kids a chance.
You are avoiding my question.

I get that. I am simply trying to think differently then management, that is all.
Remember last year, the Flyers didn't promote Ghost because they thought he was ready, they promoted him because of injuries.
My point being you don't know what you have until you try it.

Honestly, no. I'm just a fan who watches Flyers games on television and has zero exposure to the AHL team. Were it my job to monitor that kind of stuff and make decisions based on my and/or my staff's observations I'd be better informed. - Scoob

I'll venture a guess.
Perhaps the staff feels that the downside risk outweighs the upside potential at this point in the season. |

Sure but if you're forced into a decision it's a lot easier to accept the risks than if you are making the decision otherwise (i.e., let's see what they can do). |

Yes. And my television watching does not provide nearly enough exposure to have an informed opinion.

Ghost almost made the team out of camp. They sent him down to the AHL because he was rehabbing an injury that limited him to like 20 games his rookie year. He was likely to be called up during the year. The Streit injury just pushed that timeframe up. |

Ghost wasn't doing anything incredible in the AHL at the time. He was playing well, but not doing what he did once he was inserted into the lineup for Streit. He was given an opportunity and made the most of it. |

Although I can't be sure, I am positively sure that they were more concerned about him getting back into game shape and playing without the puck than feeding him one-timers for all 2 minutes of every PP. |

The Flyers want to win, compete and make the playoffs. - MJL
so does removing VV from the lineup do anything to hinder those chances? |

I answered the question of why not give the kids a chance in my original reply to you that the Flyers want to win and compete for the playoffs. That's why they aren't willing to "give kids a chance" to "see what they can do".You objected to the answer, and responded condescendingly. You are incorrect that I've avoided your question. |

He said (and so has Hexy) that the Flyers are not going to use the regular season as an audition for young players. Once he feels like they deserve to be up full-time, he will call them up.
I do agree that, unless a trade is made, a call-up may be a way to get things going. But Hexy has stated from the get-go that he isn't likely to do that unless he feels the player is ready for a full-time NHL role. I'm relatively sure that Morin could probably more or less give you what Nick Schultz does, but Hexy would rather him continue playing more meaningful minutes in the AHL, not give him a limited NHL role for a few games and shuttling him back and forth to the AHL/NHL. |

Boyd Gordon $950,000
Sam Gagner $650,000
I'm pretty sure I was the only one who believed in bringing back Gagner. I shall now take my victory lap |
