Well it's quite simple, you have control over who you converse with. If you don't want to converse with me, then simply don't. I exercise that option every day. I don't get personal.

Berube getting fired is irrelevant. Majority of coaches eventually get fired. Vandevelde has been a regular in the Flyers lineup under 2 NHL coaches now. Until the Flyers brass feels there is a better option available, he'll remain in the lineup.

As a Flyers fan, I hope the Flyers upgrade the team moving forward, and improve. There are a number of areas where they can do so, including the 4th line, and the defense. It's a process.

So in your opinion, do you see the Flyers resigning him come this summer? Or do you think between internal growth or FA he is replaced ?

It's the 4th line which is obviously holding this team back and not the obvious lack of high end talent or developing talent.

Seriously, did we really think Ghost wasn't going to have a bumpy ride? Or a cast off like Del Zotto wasn't going to somehow revert to form?

But it's really all the 4th line's fault, right?

- johndewar

Since it goes with my post...If we acknowledge the team doesn't have a "high end talent" or at least enough of it that doesn't get exploited at evens and on the road, would the Flyers be better off with more skilled players and lines (i.e. the 4th line)? Should we just point at the top lines and say be better but not give them help that could be given?

Will it make a difference? I would honestly love to see. We don't know because it hasn't happened.

Am I allowed to hate Chris Vandevelde without the assumption that he is to blame for everything? I don't think I am making that claim. I have said my thoughts on it quite a bit, but my issue isn't with Vandevelde himself, it is with the constant scratching of players better than him while he is immune to coming out of the lineup.

It seems as though there is a lack of understanding why players are scratched. It's for many different reasons.

I don't know. My personal hope is that the Flyers improve the team in a number of areas, including the 4th line. I'd like to see players that not only can defend and play well on the PK, but also are able to carry more of the play at ES. Many mechanisms to do that, but they can't spend too much for 4th line talent if they go the UFA route. The ideal hope is that drafted players work their way into the lineup and replace some older veterans.

I know. We have heard them all when finding reasons why players are scratched instead of Vandevelde

Yuengling I think it comes down to his PK ability. Hes pretty good at it. They surely don't have anyone that can replace that. He's long, moves well, is a good puck battler. Until they can find someone to unseat him on that unit he will be in the lineup nightly

I see it the same.

He's one of the PK stalwarts until a kid comes in and bumps him from the PK we are stuck.

I don't know what to say...that's gotta be the reason. I think hes ok at it and even though our PK unit is mediocre...it would be worse without him IMO. Think he's better than Lyubimov at PK and the little I've seen of Leier. With the way our D swing their sticks they need him on the pk

This seems fair

Guys like Cousins and Leier seem to have better 5v5 upside
I think Leier has potential for being a good 2way player and PKer
Also think Lyubimov could replace CVV on the PK, but in reality replacing CVV with Lyubimov or Leier right now won't be a huge difference maker for this team

The goaltending has to be stellar every single game with the current team D issues, and it is a lot to ask.

I was encouraged by #14's game last night

Also think TK with Giroux has potential
