You should just be happy I'm willing to entertain any deal involving your #1 RW. Nobody else will.

Hanzal is a no go for me for the exact concerns you mentioned, the injury history being the most concerning. I'm skeptical on Sheahan strictly due to unfamiliarity (I don't watch many Detroit games). He looks good on paper but until I see him play I can't really say.
I wouldn't drop a 1st for Soderberg alone. My original post mentions pushing Pouliot and the 1st for Soderberg and a sweeter, something like a 2nd would do it in my mind.

- Wildschwein

I still wouldn't even offer a 1st in any way for Soderberg. If I'm trading for him my offer is something like Pouliot and a 3rd. We're taking on the older asset that's on a longer contract. Both are struggling a bunch right now so I'd sooner keep the 1st. I get that it would effectively be like dropping 10-20 spots in the draft- not a big deal- but the 1st has more buying power than burning it in that type of trade.

Most years that is totally true. This draft however... not so sure. Everyone looks so underwhelming and the Av's second would pretty much be a late 1st rounder, no?

I also just noticed Soderberg has a modified NTC. That does make him a little less appealing.

Sheahan does make the most sense as you mentioned. Would you use the 1st for him?

Anybody else would tell me to get fvcked as soon as Bailey's name was mentioned. Unless it was preceded by JT. What a slug he is.

What if we could fill both needs at once? Sheahan, Soderberg, Hanzal, Eakin and Strome (though he's likely more of a RW) all make varying levels of sense and most could likely be had. A couple of those teams also have offensive-type Dmen that could perhaps be had in Green, DeAngelo and Honka.

What would you move for a package of Sheahan and Green?

How about Hanzal? Would you offer a scoring forward if we could get DeAngelo with him?

How about Eakin with Honka?

Would you consider Soderberg as an option? If you would, how much value could we justify giving up for him with the 3 years remaining on his contract?

Could we entice New York to give up Strome+ for a 1st? Would we entertain the hit to our future assets for depth now and hopefully in the future? Could Strome see a Maroon-esque offensive resurgence here?

- MaximumBone

Hanzal would be a good pickup. Green would be amazing. Strome could use a change of scenery but I don't know about a 1st for him. Look at what we got for Yak. Plus I don't want to give the Isles any more picks for their failed prospects after the whole Reinhart trade.

Edit: No go on Soderberg

What a terrible thing it is that fans are happy and cheering for their team (a winning hockey team). We should all be miserable, and hate everything and everyone like you and Jero.

I'd entertain the thought if we could get Green as well. Adding those two would make for a legitimately competitive line-up heading into the stretch run. We'd likely have to move on from Eberle/RNH and Pouliot in the offseason to accommodate Leon's extension and further improvements, but it'd be worth it for a real push for contention.

Maroon- McDavid- RNH
Lucic- Draisaitl- Eberle (hoping he breaks his slump)
Pouliot- Sheahan- Pitlick
Caggiula- Letestu- Kassian
Lander, Khaira and Slepyshev

Klefbom- Green
Sekera- Larsson
Davidson- Benning
Nurse- Gryba

Green also has another year on his contract after this one so our D corps would likely remain stable over the summer.

I don't think I can consider him on even a remotely close tier to Reinhart as Strome already has a 50 point season under his belt. The whole idea of a 1st for him was assuming extra assets coming back with him; our 1st for Strome and a 2nd perhaps. I'd honestly consider moving Eberle for Strome and a 2nd or a prospect like Ho Sang right about now, but that'd be poor asset management.
