I'm hoping the same, just very skeptical after the numbers he's put up this year |

With the expansion draft looming, I can't see us adding more than a depth guy to our blue line before the deadline. With the development of Klefbom, Benning, and Nurse and the play of Sekera, Russel, and Larsson to go along with the solid prospects we have coming up I'm not all that concerned about the future of our D anymore. A center that can play PK and win some draws is higher on my list right now. - Ihatebrianburke
What if we could fill both needs at once? Sheahan, Soderberg, Hanzal, Eakin and Strome (though he's likely more of a RW) all make varying levels of sense and most could likely be had. A couple of those teams also have offensive-type Dmen that could perhaps be had in Green, DeAngelo and Honka.
What would you move for a package of Sheahan and Green?
How about Hanzal? Would you offer a scoring forward if we could get DeAngelo with him?
How about Eakin with Honka?
Would you consider Soderberg as an option? If you would, how much value could we justify giving up for him with the 3 years remaining on his contract?
Could we entice New York to give up Strome+ for a 1st? Would we entertain the hit to our future assets for depth now and hopefully in the future? Could Strome see a Maroon-esque offensive resurgence here? |

which scoring forward?
absolutely love to have hanzal. hed certainly be the echelon of player i may be willing to give up and eberle type for. assuming cagg can move to the wing of course.
but even then im hesitant.
nuge kassian
hanzal slephyshev
?
i dunno
soderberg would be a solid acquisition too. although i wouldnt make that same deal.
and i wouldnt even consider it for eakin or strome.
the wing (especially right side) is a position id like to shore up, not weaken.
i have still have some pipe dream of duch and a pick for ebs and nurse or something.
assuming theres no trouba deal out there for nurse ++

Eakin and Soderberg I'd be interested in but I'd pass on Hanzal and Sheahan.
Not sure what price the former would cost. I'd want to include Pouliot in the trade for cap reasons but I'm not sure what else. Probably would add the 2017 1st (looking like a meh draft anyway) if the return was sweetened appropriately.

Damn rights you should be sorry. Now give me Hamonic and Lee for Pouliot and a 3rd. It really is the least you could do. |

Just fine. He's not what we hoped he would be, but he's a solid 2-way winger. I mean, he's only 22, so there's still room to grow, but if he's a permanent 40 point wing then so be it. |

NO. You can have Bailey & Mayfield. - Isleshockeyman
I will take Bailey and Mayfield for future considerations and the Isles 1st round picks for the next 3 years.
Its tough but fair. |

2 years and you throw in a traffic cone. I need a replacement for Strome. |

Any particular reason why? I'd think those two make the most sense. Is it Hanzal's injury history that shies you away or is it his UFA status? How about Sheahan? To me he seems like the perfect fit in every way. 25 year olds, 6'3, 226lbs, solid faceoff guy, seems to play tougher minutes and has 2.5 solid seasons of reasonably good offense. Add that to his recent struggles and I see a perfect buy-low candidate. With Green on our D corps, I think we'd be right on the verge of legitimately competing for a Cup.
I don't think I could justify surrendering a 1st for an older asset with a contract guy like Soderberg. If I'm giving up a 1st, I'm doing it for a guy who figures to play a part on our team long term as well as short term. Strome fits that bill. |

Hanzal is a no go for me for the exact reasons you mentioned, the injury history being the most concerning. I'm skeptical on Sheahan strictly due to unfamiliarity (I don't watch many Detroit games). He looks good on paper but until I see him play I can't really say.
I wouldn't drop a 1st for Soderberg alone. My original post mentions pushing Pouliot and the 1st for Soderberg and a sweeter, something like a 2nd would do it in my mind. |
