And Laughton doesn't get PP time why???? Because Andy miele is better? HMMMM
Brilliant retort and player analysis my friend.
Laughton can't beat out a scrub! Bring him up now with his scary talent that cannot get him PP mins. - Konalover
Because the Flyers management want him to work on his two-way game and penalty killing. It's the same reason Morin isn't on the PP while an ECHL player like Lamarche was.
You may not like him, but Laughton is the 1C on the Phantoms. |

That was a hell of a play. Richards was an amazing player in his prime and it was fun to watch him when he was 'on'.
That team was stacked with pretty solid players. G has had to do it all on his own for so long.

He didn't transform himself, he's just being used in a different role than he was in the WHL where he was the main source of offense on the whole team.
And he's excelling in that new role. Your opinion of him as a player is outdated and inaccurate. - Feanor
Just because he's being used as a shutdown guy in the AHL doesn't mean he's excelling. MacDonald was used as a shutdown guy for a while. Is he excelling?
I'm sure Sanheim has progressed, but until I see him do it in the NHL, I'm not going to assume his decision making and defensive play are better than Ghosts. |

The Canucks are not a gritty team, and NEVER fight when they don't have Dorsett or Gudbranson in the line up. You would be better off getting your most defensively sound D-men playing the Canucks. - Codes1087
I realize many have said this already in different ways, but here goes: Even Gudas' toughness isn't really a fighting or "gritty" toughness. He hits, hard, and occasionally stupidly (and these occasions happen just a little bit too often). That being said, he has played like the defensive half of a top-pair for the past two years. He is probably the Flyers' #3 after Provorov and [a healthy] Streit. If he's not playing it's because he's "healthy" but not really, and Hakstol thinks this is a night when he can do without one of his best. |

It would have been quicker if you just admitted you hadn't seen Sanheim play in the AHL and had no idea what you were talking about. |

All kidding aside, it's time for a look at big Sam. This D is about as intimidating as a basket of new born puppies. |

Bill reports that Gudas is pretty banged up, so I get his sitting. It's just that I'd rather just bring up Morin rather than having to endure 15 minutes or so of Nick Schultz standing around hoping that pucks hit him. |

Yes, but few players in the league can stand around hoping that pucks hit them the way that Schultz does. |

Yeah I'll be begging by period three for Schultz to say uncle and tell the trainer something broke, like I was against Washington in the playoffs last year. |

I'm sure that his play in the AHL has been superb. However, I'd like to see that play translate consistently to the NHL before I would consider him replacing Ghost. |

Heck I respect that he's played 1000+ NHL games, but he's just so ineffective out there |

Still can't believe he got a 2-year, $2.25M per deal for being "not quite as horrible as everyone else on D" back in 14/15. |

Yup. Might as well. Without Gudas the defense core is soft as a marshmallow. |

What a crock of poop. He needs 'more consistency in his game'. Gudas is one of the top defenders on this team and should not sit. If he's not fully healthy, then say that. |

Only the GM talks about injuries. If you work for the Flyers and don't like that policy, you can quit.

I have zero interest in trading Ghost, and I actually think Sanheim would be a good partner for Ghost. He doesn't have as good a one-timer as Ghost, so playing on the right side neuters his offense somewhat. But they are getting him used to playing that side because he may have to do it in the NHL. |

He's gonna be a 3C or 4C and kill penalties on the Flyers and is being used on the Phantoms with that in mind. He's had other AHL seasons with more PP time and more production - they don't need to use him like that any more. |

Didn't you do this exact same routine before the Tampa game?
If the Flyers happen to win you vanish for a day or three, wait for a loss, then come back with the same old material. |
