Gudas as surprising as it may be to fans of opposing teams is one of the best dmen on the team at generating chances by getting point shots on net and being able to skate and make a transitional pass. Replacing him with Streit is a downgrade IMO.
We all know who needed to be replaced but whats the use anymore understanding the lineup decisions. - SeaIslelandLush
Bill has mentioned elsewhere that Gudas is pretty banged up, despite being characterized as a "healthy scratch". |

If the Flyers had a 2 on 0 breakaway right now, they'd end up flubbing it by passing it back and forth because both guys would want to defer. - johndewar
so you are saying this is going to be a REALLY EXCITING game? |

From a numbers perspective, it will be hard. But I think he's actually gotten better in some aspects this year. Just been so unlucky. - JFlyers00
Just your typical sophomore slump. It's magnified because of how perfect his season was last year. |

Well to be fair, if you want to make a comment like that you have to include the other team will go back the other way and score on a short side shot from the blueline. |

I kinda want him to get traded just to watch these (frank)faces complain about how the Flyers can't get out of their own end. - PhillySportsGuy
And even if the other D prospects do pan out, it will just allow Ghost to feast on lesser competition.
What kind of deal would you be looking to sign him to in the off season? |

yeah...i was referring to offensive point production. he is still doing a lot of things the same. He was shooting an absolutely absurd like 25% for the first 2 weeks or so he was here. |

Do not underestimate the Flyers ability to not show up for games like this. - Mordecai
This is exactly where I'm at. Looks like the canucks have played pretty well of late, and I totally expect us not to show up at all for a game they really need to win.. similar to their effort in Buffalo. |

I think Ghost brings a dynamic that is unique. He can, at times, be a one-man transition machine. He hasn't collected the goals like he did last year, but he's still capable of being a one-man highlight reel. Provorov, Sanheim, and Myers all seem like they'll be able to produce offensively at the pro level, but I think Ghost does have skills that those 3 don't make redundant. If anything, the combo of Ghost and Provorov make Sanheim's skills redundant. |

Something long-term to keep the cap hit down. His bad luck this year could help in negotiations. I still feel like he's bound to have a month where he just goes nuts and gets a ton of points.
It just amazes me that people are willing to trade such a dynamic player because of some bad luck and a bunch of unproven prospects. He's shown to be a great offensive player who excels in the most important areas of the game. He's certainly rough around the edges, but there is so much potential there. Why would you trade a guy like that? If he ever reaches his potential, you'll never get equal value unless you're going after some really young, unproven player. |

Because for all the reasons you mentioned the player has value. Looking out we're assuming that Sanheim and Myers are going to be solid two way defensemen who can play on the PP and PK. They are projecting that way. Sanheim certainly is showing he'll have every bit of the ability to carry the puck up the ice the way ghost does with the potential to be faster. Myers can do this too with a big shot. These prospects aren't as green as they once were.
Me personally I want to get bigger and longer on the back end, so I have a greater interest in keeping those types of players to go with 6'0" provorov and 6'0" Gudas the only other 2 dmen that are going to be around for awhile.
Talking about trading ghost doesn't mean fans think he sucks or take his game for granted. Its about making decisions on how to round out the roster and filling in some obvious holes in the forward ranks. |

I view it the other way around. That's to say that Sanheim and Myers make the impact in the NHL that we all want them to do. But, obviously there are so many what if's in a situation like this, so it's hard to say exactly what will happen.

I agree. Until Sanheim and/or Myers prove they can deliver at the NHL level, there should be no thoughts on trading Ghost. |
