Disagree, but don't think he's a bad choice on the wing either.
Would rather see him covering more ice at center. Utilizing his east-west speed more as opposed to the heavy north-south game he plays on wing.
The dude is such a strong skater and only getting stronger on the puck. - fry
I agree on his skating, I just think he would be better used in a power winger kind of role. He seems to have taken a step back a bit this year and most games I tend not to notice him ... I guess the same can be said about Monahan |

Agreed that Bennet is not as noticeable lately but he has been playing with plugs since JG and SM have been put back together. I thought he looked good on a line with Tkachuk and Brouwer earlier in the year.
I wonder how much their quiet play has to do with the roles GG has them playing. More responsible defensively in the Ozone? |

I agree on the Tkachuk and Brouwer with Bennett, I think Bennett and Tkachuk are perfect line mates but at this point you can't break up that Backlund line.
I think Johnny and Monahan are just having the "I signed a big contract I trying to do it all now" kind of year, I expect both of them to bounce back next season ... not that this season is a right off.

I wasn't really buying in to the conspiracy theories early but now I'm starting to think the refs have made a calculated decision to try and burn us.
They knew they couldn't just hand Wideman a bunch of penalties, that'd be way too obvious. Instead, I think I saw that almost every single player on the flames roster has seen a sizeable increase in the number of penalties they've been called for per game since last year.
I believe the same chart had Wideman's PIM actually decrease. This seems to me like a conscious effort. Why would everyone on the teams PIMs go up except for Wideman?
Lot's of people point to the fact that we draw almost as much penalties as we take. But I'd argue that this team was built to draw penalties. We are a fast, skilled team that drives to the net hard. That kind of game plan is going to draw a pile of power plays for any team.
Edit:
Found the article (its been shared before). Our PIMs per game are way up and our drawn penalties per game are way down. Something fishy is going on, but unfortunately it is going to be tough to prove and I don't know what we could really do about it even if we could prove it...

Conspiracies...
Tkachuk takes way too many penalties, averaging almost 1/game and will play a heckuva lot more than Bollig did last year, so that's bumping up our average, as is having Hathaway playing more games, Bennett being more involved etc.
We are a team built to draw penalties, but we are also built (at the moment) to take a lot of them with the young, gritty guys taking more than the average guy on the team. |

I think since Johnny has come back from injury he's been just fine. |

Crazy how we can dismiss the theories when even last game had refs ignoring San Jose and calling bullsh!t penalties like the Brodie "slash".
They gave a penalty shot for hitting Boedker on the stick on a breakaway. Noone got hauled down or hooked and it clearly wasn't a slash.
Then Johnny gets hauled down with a step on the defense and an empty net and its only a penalty because the arm was up on the hook further down the ice? So they give a 2:00 with 30 seconds left if Johnny gets hauled down when the rulebook states that's an automatic goal, but Boedker gets a penalty shot for a stick tap. My god. (frank) the refs.
Does noone remember the Edmonton games? How is it that easy to dismiss the theories with games like those? Even Oil fans admit the refs were one sided in those. |

He has been just that ... fine ... not spectacular but like I mentioned above most players have a down year after signing the type of contract he signed. He is still an elite player I am not trying to take anything away from ... Lets hope he has a stellar second half |

So, tore my Quad tendon before Christmas and am still on crutches for another week at least.
Can anyone recommend any good series on Netflix?
Cheers. |

I completely agree, it seems once the young players sign big deals for big $ they forget what they are getting paid for. Have a good one Dino!

If your semi-capable with computers get KODI. Add an add-on called exodus (or just save yourself the trouble and buy and Android box with all the stuff pre-loaded on there). With that set up you can watch just about any show/fairly new movie for free.
Also, if you haven't watched it already, Stranger Things was pretty damn good. |

Meh, I wasn't really buying into them early either (I thought the refs would have there little poop fit for a few months then move on). I just don't buy that Tkachuk, Bennett and Hathaway (who actually draws more penalties than he takes) have caused this team to go from the least penalised team in the league to the highest (at least in terms of minor penalties).
I'd buy those 3 bringing us up to the middle of the pack in terms of penalties taken, but not top 3. |
