I think people were referring to some one who legitimately plays in the top 4 on their own merit...

The assumption is a quality Dman or prospect, I am guessing a "prospect".

I don't think it happens this year if the Leafs are close to a playoff spot. Even if they don't make the playoffs, it is good experience to be in contention.

It will be interesting to see if the young team can keep this up or if they will hit a wall around the 55 game mark. It is a lot of first full NHL season players on that roster.

The schedule turns up a notch in march.

Going to be tough to have a strong finish.

So we have a deal, Emelin for JVR (25% salary retained) and the 7th round pick from Anaheim (I hear that pick will be a star)

Similar to will the Oilers miss Hall.. I figured they would but they seem to be far better.

Like the Leafs without Phil.

Throw in that scrub Galaxchinuk. He's been practically invisible for weeks now so that Habs won't miss him.

only if they get a quality D back for him. Maybe.

- Fakepartofme

I don't think they would miss him. Not drastically at least.

What about that boyish grin, and the way he gently chews on his mouthguard when he's on the bench

I think in the Oilers case it is Draisatl and McDavid ... and everyone else.

The Hall trade helped make them better, but I don't think that makes it a good trade. They may have been better this season with Hall. We can't know.

I see JVR as being our Eberle. I think Edmonton would be well rid of Eberle also.

Marner can take both of those tasks upon his shoulders.

He waves around his Richard too much in the dressing room.

I think the success (sort of success) the Oilers are having is all McDavid and somewhat Dry Saddle.

Their defensive stats are pretty much the same as last year.

A wall is definitely a possibility.

Hoping not.

There needs to be a mix of talents. Not all skilled, or all worker bees. I very good D man is our next need. IMO. If we have to give up JVR for that.. So be it.

Probably has nothing to do with improved play of certain players or the addition of others.

Better as a team in the standings is all the GM really friggin cares about. If you ask me. We will never know how good or bad they would have been without making the trade...
