Our D is as good as anybody.
Chabot, our first pick and a tradable player (Smith, Pageau, Lazar)
Who do we get that is on the trade block? |

I would have liked to have kept him, but the owner is cheap and zibanejad is going to sign for $5 mill which is too much for them
I think they could have gotten brassard with it dealing zibanejad.
Giroux would be a good player to move. Want Bobby Ryan for him (kidding) - Ottawa Fan
If I were to trade Giroux I would want a young player who might be close to breaking out. Kind of like Zibanejad. I think the Flyers are still a couple years from really competing in the playoffs so I want some youth back in the deal.
I would have like Zibanejad and a 2nd for Giroux. Maybe one other player who could fit on the 3rd line or possibly a prospect. Not exactly sure.

Ottawa's elite forward was supposed to be Bobby Ryan. It pains me to recall Travis Yost's column on him and how it was very evident that he was trending downwards quickly. Ottawa gambled with him to keep the fan base happy following the Alfie fiasco. Then they gave him a huge contract which I will never understand.

We have learned that any contract can be traded. Maybe the Sens pick up a bad contract owed about $20 mill (Clarkson?) and try to get rid of Ryan. When the top forwards need new contracts, it will be tough if Ryan is still around |

Oh good god I hope you are joking. Our d core is no where near the top 10 in the league and IMO has been Ottawas biggest weakness in the last 5 years AND u want to trade Chabot?

I truly Ann curious how that Dion deal is playing out for you guys, you never really hear anything about him anymore, and I don't watch Ottawa games so , as a serious question, has he been better for you than us or is he a total sh!t show like he was in Toronto..? |

I think it's time we go all in and upgrade to the max. The only way we will ever get better is by trading our elite players for slightly more elite (on average) players. The time has come to begin a transition to the world of wild and freaky trade proposals no one will like, meaning they are actually fair value...with that in mind, I propose the following:
To OTT: Duchesne, Landeskog, Barrie, Beauchemin, COL 1st 2017
To COL: Karlsson, Ryan, Brassard, Wideman, OTT 2nd 2018 and 2019
A lateral move for both sides where COL significantly upgrades their D and reunites good buddies Karlsson and Weircioch, while OTT becomes the elite offsense of the Atlantic with a still decent powerplay QB, and restocks with assets for the future.
Ottawa wins the Stanley Cup in 2019, Colorado follows suit in 2021. With these lines, especially after Macarthur comes back, book it!
Dzingle-Turris-Stone
Hoffman-Duchesne-Landeskog
Macarthur-Smith-Pageau
Pyatt/Lazar-Kelly-Neil
Barrie-Methot
Phaneuf-Ceci
Beauchemin-Boro
Chabot
Anderson
Condon

LMAO... You,d need to trade all those players on Colorado just to get a crack at the possibilty of landing Karlsson alone.

Well for one thing, he doesn't play top 4 minutes. He's been quite steady, but has made a few errors and has had a few stretches of games where he was playing good at all, but I think where he stands in the lineup as a top 4 D, he's pretty steady and reliable. |

He has been fine. He will never be able to live up to the contract and is overpaid, which will always be the issue with him. He brings an edge that pisses opposing players off and he has been decent against other teams top guys. And Ottawa isn't playing him on the top pair, he is slotted where he should be.
Far from perfect, but adequate about what was expected when the trade was made. How is that for a ringing endorsement? |
