if we can find a deal for ullmark+carrier we could manipulate our expansion list such that Vegas will have to either choose an AHL scrub or a bad contract.

The chart I posted basically proves the Sabres are snake bitten when Lehner is in net. The generate much more high scoring chances and shots per game when Lehner is in net as opposed to Nilsson.

Basically they can't score for poop when Lehner is in net but have more high risk attempts taken per game. It's pretty much luck and bad luck at this point.

For anyone that has been a fan of the game for several decades ....... is there any way you could look at the game any differently ? I'd say without any reservation that hockey .... out of ALL the major sports (even soccer for christ's sake) .............. is the sport most often decided by sheer luck and/or good bounces. I completely subscribe to this theory.

Aside from the (5-7) elite teams that simply have it clicking on all cylinders at the moment ....(until they don't), there isn't hardly a thing different between other teams ..... except good fortune.

That's what happens when most goals are scored from 3' away and you play with a rubber puck that bounces all over the goddamn place. Plus you can't touch the puck with your hands like you can a baseball, basketball, football, you have to use a 5'6"+(unless you're Nathan Gerbe) stick and can only touch the puck with the blade. That makes it much more difficult too. It's also the sport with the most discrete actions happening at any one time which lends more toward luck than mastering just one thing, i.e. a fastball vs a batter whereas with hockey you have you with the puck 5 other guys trying to kill you 4 of your teammates trying to prevent that from happening, the puck is bouncing because the ice sucks, and when everything goes perfectly the (frank)ing official gets in the way more than any other sport too.

Which begs the question ............ if it's more luck/fortune then most realize .... does the roster makeup really matter much ?

You will see deals like team x sends 2 picks and 3 AHL prospects to Las Vegas for a 5th rd pick for Las Vegas's agreement to select player x in the expansion draft and not players y or z.

Tampa has a great power play, and Nilsson is not good defending it.

Bishop may be back.

A challenge tonight, but the Sabres have been meeting those challenges lately. LETS GO BOYS!!

Looking forward to it. Been a few years since I've physically been at a Sabres game.

I will be there tonight as well. Always a good time listening to Bolts' fans scream "Shoot it!" when they are at center ice on the pp
