I know it's a little early but if we continue playing how we have these past few games, I feel like were getting of a good glimpse of what this team can be, maybe all those injures really did mess with the team? Losing Eichel isn't easy.

More will agree with this than you think. Just has been lost in the Debbie Downer attitude that a few bring . I'm old enough to like what I see it becoming .VS what is has been for the last 10 years.

They'd certainly be a lot closer. Other thing to consider is how many wins this team has without two guys whos salary combines to roughly 8 mil and were considered to be top 4 regulars

I am thinking the Sabres have a pretty good shot at getting the win tomorrow. TB has not been playing well, dropped 4 in a row, and has been leaking goals pretty badly. With the Sabres scoring at a pretty good pace the last little bit, Buffalo should be able to come away with 2 points even if Bishop is back tomorrow.

I agree.

Jack is to the Sabres what McDavid is to the Oilers or Matthews is to the Leafs. None of these young teams are deep enough when an existing (or budding) superstar is taken out of the line-up for an extended period of time. If either the Oilers or Leafs lost those respective guys like the way we lost Eichel, I guarantee they wouldn't be sitting in the standings where they are today.

However, a team like Pittsburgh or Chicago can still be a top performing team because they 1) are deeper than any of these younger teams, 2) they have already climbed the mountain in terms of creating a permanent winning culture etc. They have learned how to win and play through adversity. These younger teams haven't yet. In the Sabres case, throw in losing ROR, Kane and even the much maligned Kuli and this has really hurt our team.

During the pre-season (before all the injuries) I thought the Sabres were a bubble playoff team. In the 90 point range +/- 3 points. I still stick with this.

That's my point - we aren't that good (yet). Trending in the right direction but not deep enough and the culture of winning hasn't be established (yet). Getting closer though - at least I hope so!

Hopefully McDermott wrestles player control away from Whaley and Whaley walks out the door.

Great players mask great flaws.

Carey Price comes to mind.

If you are a one man team, you aren't a very good team

Ive said before, this is a young team. Not by age but by how long ago it was put together. Add the young players in experienced player rolls on successful teams . We are in great shape and just have to wait a bit more for it to come together.

Agreed 100%, Having quality depth is key when losing your best player and other top 6 forwards. We really don't have a lot of guys that can step up and ease the pain of losing a caliber of that talent.

Honestly, we could do worse than Norv Turner for OC. He had a lot of good years in SD with this really good running back. Laganglion Tomlinsdorf? Something like that.

Edit: I'm not saying McCoy is Tomlinson, but they're very similar. They catch a lot of passes, they're great, shifty runners, they're built the same. I don't know if McCoy can throw the ball though. Remember that game when Tomlinson had a rushing, receiving, and passing TD?

Yeah, I'm already on to Turner. I'd rather have Turner than Lynn or Reich.

I haven't backread, but it looks like Holcomb, the Panthers LB coach is going to be DC? That's a solid choice, the Panthers have arguably had the best LBs the past few years.
