Gotta say, I'm starting to like all the line juggling Disco does. So organized too. Sabres hardly ever get too many men penalties. That's unbelievable. Gets everyone used to each other and affords opportunities to double shift our top guys. No question one of the strengths to Disco's system. Disco is pulling this team out of the storm. What do I know, I've been saying Samson was good all year. In the words of Rex Ryan, I love it when I'm right.
- Hatboro_Swords

Is this sarcasm? I'm pretty sure we had the highest amount of that penalty in the league last year, and I've seen it happen more often than I'd like this year.

I thought we determined we don't have to ... his NM clause was broke when he accepted the trade here...at least that is what i recall.

if that is the case, do you still protect him?

I would not, his cap hit for performance is too high..even though we get nothing in return asset wise, we fget $5M in cap space to use on his replacement.

if we don't have to i don't know why you would..

You don't. For the 2nd year in a row it's taken until halfway through the year for him to be at a level where he might be serviceable.

He doesn't have a goal, has 3 assists, and has bad fancy stats.

And is being paid like a #2 D man.

I'd re-sign Fedun for the 3rd pair, trade Franson/Kulikov, expose Bogo, and pray.

It sure seems like a foregone conclusion that the only D they will be protecting are Risto and McCabe.

I don't have an issue with Bogo when he's in his mid-season form. His cap hit may be higher than we'd like, but overall, if he's playing consistently, I'm fine with him.

The problem I do have, is that he's a hot mess anytime he misses time with an injury, and since that seems to be a yearly occurrence, I'm ready to be done with him. It would be one thing if it was just a game or two before he found his groove again, but it's not. It's like 10-15 and that's just not acceptable at this point.

I would hope so.

It also leaves the door open to trading for a D man that needs to be protected. If that opportunity arises

Agreed, again for the 2nd year it's game 40, and he finally looks semi competent.

Even if he has an injury free, productive 2nd half of the year, he's basically breaking even for being an injured tire-fire the first 40.

I was willing to give him a chance. I know you haven't been a big fan of his the whole time. But I wanted to form my own opinion.

When he's on, he's not a bad defenseman. He just CAN'T seem to stay healthy and then he's like 1-2 steps behind for 10ish game after he comes back from whatever his most recent ailment was.

If you've got the depth to allow him the time to get back into a groove it's one thing, but not when you're paying him what he gets and your depth is seriously lacking.

No talk of Enroth trade to Anaheim? I mean, 7th round pick, boy Toronto is amazing (sarcastic)!

This was a pure time / place thing, being free before on waivers, the only reason they traded for him was cause of injuries to both AHL goalies. Feel bad for Enroth, but his play led him here, so what can you do?

Eichel centered foligno and gionta last night. That's Larssons old gig. Third line checking center. Reason #38,976 why Bylsma isn't fit to coach my kid's team, much less this one.

Yup also the whole Reinhart gets the Pomminville treatment is flat out wrong as well. He was playing with Kane and Bailey yesterday. But he always plays with the same guys?

Until Nylander is playing in Buffalo or GMTM finds a sniper for Eichel expect a lot of juggling still with the team finally healthy for the first time all year with Ennis coming back.

I feel like no matter how you look at it, one of the top 3 guys is going to get put with what many of us consider to be "junk."

It's probably the downfall of having 3 strong centers. I think what we're going to keep seeing is Bylsma trying to pair the centers with 1 stronger winger and then 1 that probably doesn't look like they belong.

It's kind of a mess either way. But, just remember, in many cases, Sidney Crosby has been dealing with the same thing Jack is for a good portion of his career. His wingers have been part of a revolving door his entire career for the most part.

At this point in the season, if they're having trouble finding guys with the skill to play with Eichel, I'd like to see them bring Baptiste up and park him on the one side.

I think part of the issue is we have too many guys at RW and not enough at LW right now.

3-0-1 in their last 4

Makes no sense to do that though. If they go that route, they can only protect 6 forwards. Might as well protect a 3rd d-man and use the option that is 7/3.
