Eichel centered foligno and gionta last night. That's Larssons old gig. Third line checking center. Reason #38,976 why Bylsma isn't fit to coach my kid's team, much less this one.

I thought we determined we don't have to ... his NM clause was broke when he accepted the trade here...at least that is what i recall.

if that is the case, do you still protect him?

I would not, his cap hit for performance is too high..even though we get nothing in return asset wise, we fget $5M in cap space to use on his replacement.

- IonSabres

Maybe we leave him exposed, cause if we get $5m in cap room and can make a play for Shattenkirk, that might be a smooth move.

I don't think anybody is arguing that he should, and will, start the next game, or that he should be play more.

The game on Friday is a bit more tricky with it being a back to back.

So what are we arguing about then?

because love it or hate it, he's one of our best d men.
Read: not top 3 worst.

He's atrocious. Also has the worst contract on the team.

They will pray Vegas takes him or Moulson IMO

IMO this team is better off extending fedun and protecting him for the 3rd pair than protecting bogo for the second pair

He is an ok defense-man, but $5.1m cap hit for 3 years (after this season) could be really bad, would rather spend money elsewhere. The real question is, could we trade him for something (I heard Oilers were interested and others might be too), rather than let him leave for free? Murray should want to move him before deadline if possible, rather than leave exposed. Same with Ennis. Basically force Vegas to take a middling player (Moulson, Dlo, Gorges, kulikov, or some other guy we get in return from a trade).

I do know that, but the issue is the NYR cap space. I guess they can be "freed" of that by having Vegas take Nash. So anything is possible.

Reinhart gets the Pominville treatment. They play him with whomever is hot and never move him down. Pominville ALWAYS played with Briere or Drury. Always. Bylsma plays Jack with scrubs in an attempt to let him help up their game. If you cant see this then I don't know. This isn't about reinhart hate, but bylsma hate. jack and sam had a couple of great shifts together last night (one with sam missing a wide open net) and then he goes back to his stupid line combos. I don't blame jack for being frustrated. reinhart is being put in a position to succeed, which is good, jack is being asked to perform miracles, which is a poopty thing to do. if he doesn't trust girgensons to play shut down 3rd line center then call up cal already. im so done with disco (frank)ing up our franchise.

Bradley as our DC and McCoy as our OC and things may not be as bad.
- SABRES 89

I don't think the Gus Bus would be coming. Usually the coordinator of whatever side of the ball the HC is from isn't an upper echelon guy. Offensive HC gets a strong DC. Defensive HC gets a strong OC. McCoy makes sense. The Gus Bus not so much.

Those are 2 different things.
to me the cap hit is the biggest factor, especially in view of his performance.
If he goes, we can use the $'s to replace him.

- IonSabres

Sure. Makes sense in a vacuum. But if that plan doesn't entail throwing a truck full of cash at Shattenkirk, why bother. Expose Moulson, it's easier to grab top 9 wingers than top 4 dmen.

Don't recall seeing Dixon Ward, Curtis Brown or Wayne Primeau, but didn't backread everything. All easy gets I might've missed.

With Reinhart centering a different line, who do you put on with Eichel there? And if you say Kyle, who do you put with O'Reilly?

Foligno has been doing fine on that first line.

disco sucks dan has buried the skunk on the 3rd line several times

that being said, I think it's good for jack and eichel to be on separate lines but together on first pp unit

So here is a valid question, Foligno played well with Gionta and Larsson (where here of course), but sticking him on the first line, showcasing to trade? I have heard teams like him / his skill set.

The question becomes, do we want him moving forward, or the thought of him with a couple other pieces for a top end player?

Gotta say, I'm starting to like all the line juggling Disco does. So organized too. Sabres hardly ever get too many men penalties. That's unbelievable. Gets everyone used to each other and affords opportunities to double shift our top guys. No question one of the strengths to Disco's system. Disco is pulling this team out of the storm. What do I know, I've been saying Samson was good all year. In the words of Rex Ryan, I love it when I'm right.

if 23 is a center:
48/15/21
9/90/56
82/23/12
stink/stank/stunk

if 23 rides shotgun:
48/15/23
9/90/21
82/cor/12
26/28/56

Option 2 looks better to me.

true. I agree. I still don't think guys like disco (and ruff) can coach elite players. eichel was put in a third line shut down center role last night. when that line had Larsson centering it, it was a solid 3rd line, now with jack it's supposed to be a scoring 1 or 2? c'mon, dude cant make foligno and gionta become nick foligno and 2005/6 gionta. does anybody else see this, I feel like im taking crazy pills?!
