If he brings McCoy as OC like they say and maybe Gus Bradley, it just might work out. Bradley is a good DC but not a good HC.

bradley was over his head as a head coach down here

I would like him as our d coordinator though

todd haley or reich

I want offense, IMO with who knows what at qb

get the best d coordinator you can find to pair up with him

- homiedclown

Ok, so what's wrong with hiring a guy with a very successful defense for 4/6 years and him hiring a guy with a very successful offense despite the atrocity that is the San Diego offensive line? We all like Reich because of bias, let's be honest here. he's a qualified offensive coordinator no doubt, and he could step in and maybe do McCoy's job. But you know what? Having an ex head coach who knows how to run an offense is a fine gamble in my opinion. Worked pretty god damn well when Jim Schwartz was fired from Detroit then came here to run the defense.

Of all goalies that have played at least 10 games, Anders Nilsson's .945 even strength save% is 2nd in the NHL to Devan Dubnyk (.946).

This shouldn't even be a question as who to start for the next few games.

- sbroads24

why isn't he #1?

Bradley as our DC and McCoy as our OC and things may not be as bad.

Here is my protection list:

Hopefully they give him a chance and keep him around for more than two years. My biggest issue with buffalo is our mentality of if it's not working in two years fire the coach.

should have fired Bylsma last November (2015)...two months in.

I love the idea of bringing in guys who were once very successful at their niche before being elevated to head coach. Just shows they were great at their jobs prior to becoming head coach. No reason they can't do it again.

The Bills should act fast if we name McDermott our head coach and grab both of these guys before another teams does.

I don't think anybody is arguing that he should, and will, start the next game, or that he should be play more.

The game on Friday is a bit more tricky with it being a back to back.

So what are we arguing about then?

WGT poll...respondents answer "meh" to the question of what do you think of the decision to hire McDermott.

Russ has some work to do to repair Bills image.

I thought we determined we don't have to ... his NM clause was broke when he accepted the trade here...at least that is what i recall.

if that is the case, do you still protect him?

I would not, his cap hit for performance is too high..even though we get nothing in return asset wise, we fget $5M in cap space to use on his replacement.

the only thing that repairs the bills damage is playoffs

the team doesn't keep a coach for more than 2 years and has become cleveland east

Well you gotta figure McDermott has been in contact with some of these guys in recent weeks and knows who he'll go after first. Fortunately, we look to be the first org to hire a coach that doesn't already have a staff in place. Essentially he's got pick of the litter, if these guys in fact do want to work with him and the rumors or true.

Those are 2 different things.
to me the cap hit is the biggest factor, especially in view of his performance.
If he goes, we can use the $'s to replace him.

agreed...until August/September rolls around, then 70% of base will think we will cruise to playoffs with a 11-5 record...watch.

They were actually talking about that on WGR this morning. Typically, when guys come in to be interviewed, they have a chart of the guys they'd like to have under them, ranked from who they'd want first and then so on.

They said it part of how teams decide who to hire, as they like to know what the overall "plan" would be.

I haven't been drinking that lemonade for at least 4 years.

I thought they'd go 6-10 this year. Wasn't too far off, since they finished 7-9.
