ok i see what you mean but the "eye"test would say he struggles to get a shot on goal every 60 mins played
- onesmallleap

Check your eyes I guess.

He gets 5.44 shots per 60 and Granlund is 5.80 per 60. This is 5v5 by the way.

Gaunce has 27 shots and Granlund has 53. The difference is the ice time not the productivity when on the ice.

The hysteria, melt-downs and assorted freak outs will be very entertaining.

Starting to think long and hard about the Expansion draft. If you lose one player, wondering if they trade Sbisa for picks.

Having a good season, you could expose Biega instead and if you think you're going to lose one of Hansen, Baer, Rodin or Granlund instead, it could be a good leverage move.

Probably a few teams that would like to have him on board to hopefully protect someone else.

- Ronning4ever

Just a few things to add to your thoughts:

1)Everyone not protected or exempt is exposed. Canucks have several forwards and will have two Defenceman with Biega (a few games away) and Sbisa that meet minimum requirements.

2) Canucks have room to protect both Hansen and Baer. Who show higher on their depth chart.

3) Rodin is a UFA and unproven. Even if he gets played and lights it up. Too small of a sample.

4) Granlund and Sbisa most attractive players that will be left unprotected.

5) Every team has exposure issues which is why trades will be hard to come by at TDL.

Pretty much besides the playoff push & cup runs teams will be on.
Could be a buyers market & nothing huge happens.
That top 4D teams seem to always want prolly fetches the biggest return.
Whether or not any get moved is too tough to predict.

Me neither.
Hope.to see a player or 2 moved out and maybe a tweak or 2 in off-season if not oh well.
Trading both of Bo's current wingmen makes little to no sense at this time as Sven is also a pretty good friend of Captain Bo as evident by helicopter skating posted by Carol during Xmas break.
Benning has been doing a decent job of revamping this team...stay the course.

Its also balancing the value of the return. Burrows and Hansen are probably similar in mentoring ability (if you can even really quantify that) but one will fetch a bigger return than the other and likely cost more to resign. I think Sedins, Eriksson, Sutter, Dorsett, and I would consider Bo ready too, with those in mind there are a lot of vets to help the next wave of forwards adjust to the NHL. The D have a good mix of vets already IMO

- WhiteLie

That's pretty fair to say and a balance is there on mentoring. I see the most movement at entry draft. Vegas poaching free and a player down a lot of teams may be willing to fill holes or upgrade by moving picks. The TDL will be a bigger snooze fest then any previous year.

I don't care how many lazy shots he gets from the perimeter/ 60. Granlund can get to the front of the net and snipe. Strange comparison

Sven also loves BC weed (noticed at a party in the summer) Anyways, hopefully no trades and we move a 2nd round pick so we can finally weed out the rest of the band wagon fans to the flyers

Pretty much. Wait for the draft for moves. Sven isn't streaky as he he is slower to get going in the season. Timing issues? But he's improving haven't seen his best yet. I'd add the Mason Raymond comparison is unfair to Sven's game. The kid drives the net and scores mostly from the hard areas. Raymond was a speed burner who played the perimeter.

according to nhl.com he has 28 shots in 37 games this season and 62 in 57 career games , so he is trending down on his shots per game played , not even 1 per game

no big loss if Vegas takes him

Can someone tell the annoyance I don't care if he likes my Mason Raymond comparison. Tell him I don't post things looking for his approval

Crossbars had some fun on both ends. Like the tip tries by Preds. Canucks have driven the net to be stopped or checked. Not a bad period. Good to see Tanev playing sound.

I agree no big deal if Vegas grabs him but I think you are confusing shots per game and shots per 60.

There are 60 min in a game, usually, but Gaunce for example plays 8-10 min per game.

i know , but fancy stats are a little misleading they can make a player seem so much better then they are.

I can't say I have noticed his shot being primarily from the point but you could be correct.

I used Granlund as a comparison because thier stats are very similar as far as producing shots. The big difference being Granlund has played 300+ more min.

And deserving so, Granlund has been pretty good.

i actually like Guance and if he could gain a half step much like Horvat did he could be a good player , he's just not skilled enough to be a slower player imo
