Both teams got what they wanted.
Kings got cups, Flyers got some nice players. - J35Bacher
Yeah I agree. I like the Kings too, so it really did work out.
Imagine what Hexy thinks.. He was with LA when the swung the deal and got a ring, then he gets to go back to philly (Where he belongs) and now has the benefit of seeing those assets help his current squad. Worked out great. |

Jack Johnson's +21 has brought his career +/- up to a respectable -105. |

Today, would you trade Voracek for Jeff Carter?
Today, would you trade Couturier for Jeff Carter? - jmatchett383
I still find it funny that CBJ bailed on Carter so quickly. Thought he\'d be happy with Ohio State U so close... Maybe they'll win the cup this year and it'll be worth it.

Yes, it is. But what does 2 Cups have to do with asking if you would do a trade? Why not 7? Why not 4? If I said would you trade a 7th for McDavid, would you ask the same question? No, you'd do it because it (likely) makes the team better. - jmatchett383
I understand that.
LA made the trade because they thought it made them better. Would they probably prefer to have Simmonds now? Yes. But the trade helped in getting them 2 cups.
Would I trade Voracek or Couturier for Carter now? No because at this time the Flyers aren't at a position where I think Carter helps more then Voracek or Couturier.
Would I trade for McDavid. of Course. because I am getting a player that is younbg and can help now and the future.
There are lots of factors needed. but the ultimate goal is to position yourself in a place to possibly win a cup. |

Boy did Carter sulk his way into a nice situation.

We didn't trade Carter to LA for Voracek and Couturier. So why is that relevant? Columbus didn't win 2 Cups. |

2nd year in a row a forward makes the All Star game despite not having played very well. First John Scott, now Jon Toews. |

Seems like Toews is destined to be the belle of the ball, score 2 goals, and win MVP after the NHL arranges his trade and tells him that it would be a shame to his family if he plays. |

4 (frank)ing Blackhawks on that divisions team?
Shouldn't be more than 2 from a team. |

Should probably just demote him to the AHL to avoid the shame. |

I would trade Coots before Jake but even then I dont because I dont think Carter gets them any closer to winning up a cup then they are with either of those 2.

Manning will be one of three that is protected, Ghost, Gudas, and Manning. MDZ is a UFA so you wink wink nudge nudge and sign him post expansion draft if you want him back.
I also set an agreement (unsigned until after the expansion draft) with Mase or Neuvy and figure out who to expose at goalie to keep Stolie protected. - dragonoffrost
Using a protection slot on a mediocre #6 journeyman type who you often scratch would be a complete waste of an asset. I hope Hextall is savvier than that. And he is. |
