I think he will move Schultz if there is any market. Depends on how they look at the TDL though.

I wonder if MacDonalds play has done enough to create a small market. But if they were able to ship MacDonald out I would be more inclined to reup Del Zotto then.

I think you could deal a low level prospect or 6th/7th rounder and get a back up to resign as a back up next season in LHV. A Curtis McElhinney type would be perfect. Cheap cap hit. Can expose him and protect Stolarz.

Probably be my plan if both goalies play "meh" down the stretch

- J35Bacher

But why do that when you can just sign future mutual termination candidate Ray Emery?

I don't think so. Maybe next season, and you'll have to eat some money on it. Besides, he's our 40/70 exposure defenseman.

Is there anyone over seas they could bring over and sign to something like. Remember they signed JS Aubin for a little but wasn't playoff eligible.

Well, yes, that's the idea. It's a, "Look, we're gonna give you the league minimum. You don't even have to dust off your equipment, just don't die, and in the offseason, we'll terminate your contract for $200,000"

I'd be okay with firing him into the sun, hitting him with an airbus, or waiving him

Unless they resign MDZ or make a trade, I'm assume Manning is protected. But yes, as of now, he fits that spot.

That might get a look from the league as a "expansion draft" circumvention. You would think you would want at least a guy to back up whoever is the starter in LHV

Manning will be one of three that is protected, Ghost, Gudas, and Manning. MDZ is a UFA so you wink wink nudge nudge and sign him post expansion draft if you want him back.

I also set an agreement (unsigned until after the expansion draft) with Mase or Neuvy and figure out who to expose at goalie to keep Stolie protected.

How/why? It's a totally allowable hockey move.

Heck, the Flyers could technically sign me if they wanted to.

I am just thinking they would find fault in something like that just like when they made the ruling on Kovalchuck contract.

As am I glad he's going even better it's in LA.

Was thinking the same.. Must be very satisfying for him and the org. Simmer an all star and Richie not in the league (although this makes me sad.. always liked Richie as a player and can't believe his career ended like this).. looks like the trade worked out.

Well, the NHL has shown that it can make/break its own rules on a whim, so you may be right. Still, couldn't hurt to sign him and submit the contract. If it gets approved, yippee. If not, find another route.

Both teams got what they wanted.

Kings got cups, Flyers got some nice players.

Today, would you trade Voracek for Jeff Carter?
Today, would you trade Couturier for Jeff Carter?

Even if Richards was still playing, it was a trade that worked out. The Flyers got what they wanted out of the trade.

The goalie thing will be interesting down the stretch just because it determines how the Flyers move forward.

Yes, it is. But what does 2 Cups have to do with asking if you would do a trade? Why not 7? Why not 4? If I said would you trade a 7th for McDavid, would you ask the same question? No, you'd do it because it (likely) makes the team better.
