Simmonds is a really good fighter, just doesn't make sense for him to take himself off the ice for 5 mins as well as risk injury fighting role players.
Flyers haven't had anyone who could fight since Brashear. - PLindbergh31
we all know this isn't that kind of team. They try to play tough when the playoffs come around but they don't fight. Not much snarl or engaging in any "emotional stuff". The league has moved away from fighting overall so I agree with not having a guy that only does that.

I do wonder how after an extended time of more than just tonight the lines are still intact.
Really man? - flyer_nutter
Only so many ways you can re-arrange the deck chairs Nutter. The bottom 6 is completely void of talent. It's sickening watching bargain bin pickups like Grabner, Gagner, Parentueu all producing points while Wiese is a A-1 POS bottom shelf. |

The current set up negates whatever talent they do have. Put your guys that at least have a chance at doing something together and let the dead
Weight play together. |

Me too. I never really liked that guy. Anyone could have played that role in Happy Gilmore.

RAffl and Read. Might as well chop off Claude's balls and put bricks in his pockets.
He's aging, but with those two it's a death sentence. |

Agreed on Simmonds and disagree on the last line as Rinaldo actually could go for a smaller fighter. |

Agreed the days of the "enforcer" are over. You have to have other tools in the box to play in the NHL now. |

Yes. Rinaldo was willing and could handle himself. The thing with him ways the dumb penalties he took negated any positives. |

By the way, 13 of the last 23 even strength goals allowed by the Flyers have occurred with Macdonald on the ice.
Tried to warn you guys about how unsustainable his numbers were when everyone was saying he was "playing well."
He continues to struggle and he's really been a drag on Provorov - PhillySportsGuy
MacDonald has struggled in this game, but he has not been struggling overall. He has been playing.solid hockey. Provorov has also had some really strong games despite the " drag". Tell the complete story. There are 5 players on the ice. A comprehensive and accurate analysis would look at who has been responsible for the goals against. |

I guess we are gonna live and die by these lines because we won Saturday.
Heading into the third, I was hoping Mason might get yanked or G and Jake might be put back together. |

Agreed, stupid plays negated that fact that he really could skate pretty well, hit and heavy fighter..
The penalties made those things expendable.. |

Yep. He got a lot of reputation penalties. He would never get the benefit of the doubt on anything. He brought that on himself. |

There are only 2 players in the red possession wise tonight... The amac pairing, and they're really red.
The more you keep defending him and calling him a "slightly overpaid top-4 defenseman," the more you sound like a fool. |
