He seems like a Raffl, but with no offensive ability at all
- PhillySportsGuy

He does have 25-30 point ability though. He's actually the last 3 years been a decent ES scorer. We just thought we were getting a possession mediocre player. We got the complete opposite of both! I didn't like the contract at the time because I think he's possibly not even in the top 9 next year. He's barely in it this year. I thought it was a misjudgment of team need, even if he did better so far. BUT.....he's looked better of late. What if he manages to keep being a play driving support player but finds his scoring touch again? That would be interesting. Guy just needs a hug from his Dad, Sloth from Goonies.

78 is part of the anchor.
- JFlyers00

He's a hard working, fast skating, elite penalty killing, point allergic, shutdown center who can play up and down the lineup. Just ideally the Phantoms's lineup.

You know he's getting resigned, so we're just going to have to deal.

I mean his possession numbers are good, but it's not like he's dominant in that area. The Raffl comp actually isn't a great one because Raffl is a dominant possession player.

Weise will probably score more in the 2nd half (He has 4 (frank)ing points despite playing in the top 9 and the 2nd PP all season!), but I'm not holding out too much hope that his possession numbers will continue long term. That's never really been a strength of his game.

I'd be curious to see his scoring chance numbers though. He seems like he might be one of the beneficiaries of large shot totals but few scoring chances. It's not just that he's not scoring; he's not really a part of many opportunities. I don't recall watching games and thinking "boy Weise is really snake bitten. He just couldn't bury one tonight."

Weird thing. He went to Chicago and his possession stats rose and his points cratered, in comparison to the more loosey goosey system in Montreal. This year in Philly? Same exact thing. It's like he can't have his cake and eat it too. I know the possession stats seem flukey.....but they're kind of not. He's no Raffl to be clear. Raffl is an elite play driver among the best in the entire league at it. But that doesn't have to be the standard. And it's not like he's spent most of the year with our best players either.

Charlie O'Connor always mentions how excellent Weise is at generating entries and how good in general he is as a NZ play. And he really is watching him closely, breaking up so many plays and being positionally sound. He actually does have some really good possession tendencies in the NZ, and even the DZ. It's OZ in that has been the trouble. He looks shaky knowing where to go, he isn't shooting. Is that confidence? I don't know. He has looked better lately. Believe it or not though, he leads the team in RelxGF%. He's actually close to the bottom in RelxGF/60. But his defense, RelxGA/60, has been right at the top. He's having a season much like Meat did last year. Same strength in the details but an inability to produce and often looking lost in the o-zone.

I thought this the other day actually solely because NHL 17 Ultimate Team gave away a Mike Richards card/player that is a 95 overall. Supposedly he's trying to play still but only Euro teams showing interest if anything

How rude. He's an under appreciated, versatile American treasure and has lost weight recently.

But now that she knows he's not dead.........
