agreed... I don't know why this is even an issue... if a particular team can sell sufficient numbers - why would anyone be against it.

I particularly like the idea for marquee events, such as for the Leafs this year - the 100 anniversary. So what if they wear it for only a single game... Teams should be allowed to have as many different jerseys as they like.

Yeah...but it is getting out of hand. I dont mid a 3rd jersey and a heritage type jersey for very special occassions.

They are just maximizing their jersey sales by holding the alternates back until the new home/away kits get over their initial sales surge. They are hoping people will buy a new jersey next year and another when the third is released. Which would be less likely if they dropped all 3 at the same time.

My conspiracy theory is that they are already planning to do this, they just don't want people to know the alternates are on their way, so that we don't decide to wait to see all 3 before buying one.

IMHO, bank on the bold being the real answer. The only exception might be the outdoor games. Those may still get special jerseys though likely different from the 3rd jerseys too.
