Whats the word on Kulikov. Looks like he's UFA this summer. Are the Sabres trying to extend him or has he been sucking?

True...
but maybe they didn't like what they saw once they drafted him
Kinda weird they didn't let him play at all this season

- jdfitz77

I remember people called him a headcase I was kind of shocked that they used a second-round pick on him

I'm ok with that
There's a safety from Alabama that broke his leg this season,
Otherwise he'd likely be a 1st round pick
We could probably get him in the 3rd now

- jdfitz77

they have him late 3rd/early 4th

there is a special needs kid that goes to the bar with his dad on weekends

he spent 45 minutes last night talking to me about the wrestling event he saw last week, then asked me my favorite wrestler

I told him to be the man you have to beat the man, and the kid yelled the loudest WWWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ever

- homiedclown

Not even a huge wrestling fan myself. I mostly watched it as a young teenager but Rick Flair is a legend and his gifs are perfect for times like this. Plus I hopefully will come on here after I get back from the game tomorrow and use that gif all over this board to stick it to Gerbe

before tonight, walter mock had us taking watson in second rd
they said he has 3 rd grades from scouts

I have wilson a distant 3rd on the cb's, more of a project than the other 2 guys

- homiedclown

Fair enough the CB's are kind of interchangeable and I'd prefer to wait on them and or just sign one in free agency. Safety or Williams are bigger needs. I don't expect the LSU kid Adams to be there as he's being compared to Ed Reed. Hooker out of OSU probably will be gone too but I'd love Peppers out of Michigan. Eclectic skill set, dynamic player.

He hurt his ass/lowerback in pre season and has struggled to stay in the line up. Hasn't been 100% all year. Likely 1 and done for him

Hopefully a second round pick trade looks pretty good two second round picks

Who would give up a second round pick for a guy who can't even get on the ice for practice? My guess is he's ultimately shut down for the year.

If he can get healthy,
Someone would give a 2nd for him
Teams are always desperate for defensemen at the deadline

Didn't Weber get a 3rd?

My point is he doesn't seem like he's going to get healthy. Back injuries like that, that keep nagging can be very worrisome. If he does come back and play at a 2nd round pick level game then maybe we are still in the playoff hunt at that time and Murray doesn't trade him. Either way I don't see him being dealt unless we're out of it and he comes back and plays just okay.

I think they're probably ready to move on from Cutler
Most mocks have them taking Kizer from Notre Dame though

1. Cleveland Browns... need a QB, but consensus #1 is DE from Texas a&m
2. San Francisco 49ers... need a QB
3. Chicago Bears... need a QB
4. Jacksonville Jaguars... doubt they take a QB
5. Tennessee Titans... not taking a QB
6. New York Jets... need a QB
7. San Diego Chargers... Rivers is getting up there, but I doubt they go QB
8. Carolina Panthers... not taking a QB
9. Cincinnati Bengals... doubtful they take a QB
10. Buffalo Bills

So there's 3 teams that could reasonably go with a QB
and Watson is probably the 3rd one picked
If the Jets don't take him...
it's possible someone trades up with SD, Car or Cinci though to snag him
Cleveland picks again at 12
and NO at 11 and ARZ at 13 could use an heir apparent

- jdfitz77

I don't know, I don't think there's anyone as good as Wentz, let alone Goff in this draft. Admittedly, I haven't done a ton of research, but just things I've heard they only have like 2 or 3 guys in the first 2 rounds.

He has not been good, but there have been somewhat extenuating circumstances, he got zero training camp because of the stupid World Cup and Russia not being a pushover like recent years, so that kind of sucked, then he got hurt by going into the visitor's bench door that was broken in our building, it popped open and he went ass first into the end of the halfwall(like Pacioretty against the glass, except with his ass), been in and out of the lineup since with a back/tailbone injury, and when he has played he has not played well.

Every mock I've seen (except Walter Football) has Watson going in the top12
Some have 3 QBs in the top6
SF, Chi & Nyj

All that aside...
I've only seen Watson a few times as I didn't get a chance to watch much college football this year
But I like what I've seen
He looks like Cam Newton to me

Hello! Long time reader, first time poster. You guys are pretty entertaining so I felt like I should finally join in. It will make these midnight shifts go faster.

Few thoughts: I like Lehner. Don't love him, but I think he is playing good enough for a bridge contract. No more, no less. He is still relatively young. Like some previous posters said, it'd be really interesting to see what his numbers look like with an upgraded defense.

I'm also excited to see Ennis come back soon. I know he hasn't really given us much of a reason to be excited recently, but I still have (some) hope he can produce. He put up good points on much, much worse teams. Not ready to give up on him yet.

I think the Flyers game will be a great test to see where this team is right now. It's frustrating to see flashes of how good this team can be, then watch them come out the gate like they did against Winnipeg. Hopefully they can put a whole game together against Philly, because it would be a big statement game imo.

I think it's mainly inconsistencies of youth, despite the experience, which still isn't a ton, they're a very young team with a new, very complicated system, it's going to take time to jell together, we've been starting to see some more flashes since Jack came back. The team is still missing talent on the blueline, and maybe one or two guys up front.

People complain about speed, but it's not about speed, it's about passing, like every coach at every level says "no one's faster than the puck" and when we see those flashes they're passing with authority, and when they're bad, it's because they can't make a pass to save their lives. They need to make better first passes and the forwards need to be in a position to accept those passes. Sure, it's not a "fast" team, but we've got some burners in Jack, Ennis, Kane, Girgensons, and Risto is fast for a defenseman, the young guys Baptiste and Bailey have great speed, Carrier isn't slow, ROR isn't slow, Reinhart isn't very fast though, Gionta has wheels in spurts, Foligno isn't very fast either. On the blueline really only Franson is really slow, Bogo's fairly fast, McCabe seems to be faster than average, Gorges is really slow. Overall not a super slow team, but not the fastest either, but when passing well they have speed to burn.

Speaking of Gionta, I would definitely like to have him back for a more modest cap hit next year. I think he's been really solid for the role we have him in.

And I agree, our passing at times is pretty bad. I think our D is largely responsible for that with poor outlet passes. I think there's a lot to be excited about with this team going forward.

Nice post
I'm with ya on Ennis
I still don't know how I feel about Lehner. I'm waiting until the end of the season to form an opinion on him.

I hate the Flyers... hope we whoop them!
