I thought you were being sarcastic, you were right?

"Lets eat Grandma." is not "Let's eat, Grandma."

"You were right" is not "You were, right?"

Responding to Gerbe, this is a very very important distinction.

It was him or Colin White says you. Who knows what Murray was thinking. So Ottawa took White that's who I am using here.

But think if we got our hands on chabot the search for Ristolainen partner would be over with

I like Cal as a solid prospect but what exactly has he done in the pros? NOTHING. At this time, he is a good goalie prospect, nothing more, nothing less. Do you know how many good goalie prospects there are every year that amount to nothing in the NHL. LOTS!

Example 1 - Justin Pogge was drafted in the 3rd round by the Leafs a few years ago. He backstopped the 2006 Cdn junior team to a gold medal in Vancouver. In that tournament, his save % was .952 with 2 shut outs and a GAA of 1.0. Not bad! I can still remember all of my Leaf buddies saying that Pogge was the next Johnny Bauer. Unfortunately Pogge never made it. I see that he is now playing somewhere in Europe.

Example 2 - Zach Fucale - recent high draft pick for the Canadians. He was the stud goal-tender on the Halifax junior team that you like to talk so much about. Presently he has a .901 save percentage in the ECHL.

As of right now, Lehner is in the top 15 in the NHL. Not fantastic but pretty darn good. We all (myself included) need to get over the 1st round pick that Murray gave up for him and focus on more pressing needs like solidifying our D and Top 6 forwards.

End of rant.

Yup he just played in a game I officiated on Thanksgiving (US that is)

But they traded the pick and have a starter let it go already

If Lehner was putting up terrible stats you can complain all you want, but he's not

It is time to move on

You're delusional...

What excuses?

You say one thing others come back with facts to prove you wrong and you can't handle it

- Stripes77

Here's a fact, out of 50 goalies that have played 690 minutes, Lehner is 46th in saving high danger chances, and middle of the pack in mid danger chances.

He also has the 3rd worst Sv% at 4 on 5.

He is great at stopping a bunch of pucks that don't get by most goalies, but there is very little evidence that he is "very good"

In fact, if anyone follows Steven Burtch on Twitter, he's posted a bunch of goalie stats in the past few days, and Lehner is on the lower half of each ranking of all starters

Konecny is in the NHL ( pot stirrer)

It was him or Colin White

Like some one said the other day maybe if we kept the pick we would have traded up for chabot

We found two years before when we wanted to move up to get Larkin when I believe we offered 3 2nd round picks to move up it ain't easy. It's easy to say on message boards though.

This is correct. Murray said he offered all 3 second rounders to move back up into the 1st round - with no takers. All of us on this hockey board are much better GM's than the actual GM's in the NHL. FACT!

He is 7th in save percentage out of goalies that have seen at least 800 shots (work horse goalies 18 in total) Trailing Dubs, Holtby, Bob, Price, Rask and Crawford

Better than Jones, Talbot, Rinne, Gibson, Ward

Also better than Luongo (798 shots faced) Smith (797) Hank (788)

So what is the issue?

The hammer and the nail just connected with this point.

It would be one thing if Lehner came here and has Eddie Lacks numbers, but he is actually playing well. People also seem to forgot Nilsson was doing well as a back up in Edmonton, but when he was traded to St. Louis to start when Allen and Elliot where hurt, his numbers noise dived.

Nilsson is a nice back up, and Lehner hasn't down anything to warrant a demotion.

Make no mistake they nosedived in Edmonton too.

That if we are going to use data, why just stop at one convenient number? He's facing a ton less high danger shots as other goalies because of the system Bylsma plays.

High Danger shots against

Andersen -192
Talbot -216
Holtby-174
Jones-174

Lehner- 109

It's been almost a year so I might be wrong, but I signed Nilsson on a 1 year deal in a dynasty cap league that year, and I thought his save percentage was around 91.5 in Edmonton .

Does that really count though? That happens to every goalie in Edmonton it seems.

When Dubnyk was there I said multiple times that he wasn't the issue. Look what he's been able to do with Minny now.

ok poor choice of words, meant as in its worth building around/planning for him to be the #1 and moving on from lehner.
- Sabresfan-365

I thought it would be cut and dry this offseason.

Lehner signs bridge deal
Ullmark is taken in the expansion draft
Petersen is signed and becomes the starter for the Amerks
