From what he's shown thus far, I don't think he will do that.
- aantny88

He's not likely to do that now but at some point he might. I think it's all about timing.

What's the deal with always harping on Schenn. I don't know if you all are watching much but he tends to score some pretty timely goals and is one of the more talented forwards on this team. That Simmer Schenn Weise line didn't look bad, they were a few bounces away from having a couple goals)
- ClaudeFather

I don't think it's a 'harping' on him, or at least that's not my intention. I think Schenn is fine player, produces well and when on his game has a real impact, even when not scoring. It's not easy to find 50+ point forwards anymore.

I think it's frustrating to some because we've seen him be a better player at 5v5 than he's been this season.

Of all the problems with the team, Schenn is not one of them. I think he's more of a solution than problem.

Pretty much. I get that respect should be given to the judge and jury, but I feel that court room protocol, as far as lawyer speak goes, is out of date. Yeah, you don't want a guy in jorts going, "Yo judge, check this out right..." but at the same time, it's outdated.

i mean i dont have experience in huge federal litigation or anything, but so much of it down at city hall is so much more casual than i would have anticipated. except for the occasional raging douchebag

To paraphrase something Tomahawk said about Schenn a while back that stuck with me, 'He'll be a player that will get to 600 points, but you'll never realize it.'

I just think that is what he is at this point. Some seasons you'll be able to notice him better than others, and it's annoying because we all know when he's on his game he is a real impact player. I really would like to see him with Couts this year at some point.

At some point, there has to be some realization that not all players are consistent play drivers, who stand out game to game. Some players are just support offensive players who put up solid point totals, play well on the PP, and are just average otherwise. There is room for those kind of players on a team. 20+ goal and 50 point scorers don't grow on trees.

So, Edmonton officially waived Gustafsson. You gotta think a trade is coming.
- jmatchett383

Could just want Brossoit to backup for now. I doubt they're worried about losing the monster. Man that goal he gave up on Raffl was awesome

There always has to be a scapegoat or two on the team. It's just against the rules to post positive comments on some players. One of the resident experts posted that MacDonald was a train wreck in his own zone last night.

You should work for Cordell and Cordell to put women back in their place.

How does Provorov even skate with AMac on his back all the time?

Yeah I agree. I never said he should be traded or I didn't value him as a player. I like Schenn a lot.

My main comment was on his consistency, and as I stated before, he is more part of the solution than part of the problem.

I don't have MacDonald on blast on a regular occasion but he looked pretty bad a few times in his own zone with poor turnovers. I think there are greater issues than him, but he really isn't part of the solution moving forward either.

Stats (and illegal hits) aside, I liked what I saw from Schenn in the 2012 and 2016 playoffs. He gets in on the forecheck, drives the net, and is a physical presence. However, much like JvR, he doesn't bring that game consistently. I'm not asking him to break his body like Mike Richards did, but I'd like to see him be more impactful on a consistent basis. Still not a bad player by any stretch.

I think that Andrew MacDonald is a good option for a 5/6/7 defenseman. Aside from his passiveness in the neutral zone, whether overblown or not, there isn't really one area that he excels at, or any area that he really struggles in. He's a fairly good skater who is an adequate puck mover with has a decent shot who can defend in-zone. If he weren't on his contract, I'd be fine with him as a 5/6/7 guy who you can play for stretches.

I'd agree that he'd be fine as bottom pairing/extra d man...unfortunately his contract is incredibly inflated for that type of role and it gives people more ammo to rip the guy.

I liked how he played yesterday actually. I dont know how much that is from playing with Provorov but he's been better overall.

The team isn't terrible, a lot of good pieces. Just need to find a way to maximize the talent on hand, and make the appropriate moves going forward. So far, Hextall has shown to be good at everything related to the draft but he's scaring me a little in FA/trades.

I do think some of the gaps will need to be looked at in ways other than the draft.

I think Hextall is targeting a certain type of player and has swung and missed on his free agent deals.

As far as his trades, trading up for Konecny, the return he got for Kimmo, as well as getting more than a 7th to move out first Pronger and then VLC were all impressive moves.

Konecny trade, and being able to get rid of Wheels was great. Along with Pronger.

That's exactly how I feel. It would be nice to see some more consistency from Schenn, but he's still a good solid player.

MacDonald has one poor shift last night where he turned a puck over twice that led to extended zone attack time against. Otherwise solid.
