Well I didnt come here for that, just that Ryan was mysteriously scratched and now there are rumours out there

but how is 7.5m of ROR only having 10 5v5 points?

Not only does he have the stats but he was named the captain of his team which rarely happens for a goalie, he has played a lot of games in a row and that proves he is all ready tested with endurance which is often a problem for young goalies. Those are all intangibles to me that put him over the edge to go along with the stats.

Couldn't you say the same thing about guys like Matt O'Connor and Jason Kasdorf?

I don't because I believe the 4 years in college super cedes the four June 1sts.
- mhp

It doesn't sound like the college rule is applicable though because he wasn't enrolled before the 1st 6/1 after he was drafted.

He was out during warm ups, then pulled....then this morning Yost is talking about how He is hearing Sens are interesting in Francois Beauchemin. Starting to sound like Sens want to get rid of Ryans contract by taking on shorter term cap dumps

The CBA states that players that were drafted (high school or USHL players) and entered college by the following June 1, the team that drafts them retain their rights through the graduation of his college class.

Wait, that might not be true, draft is later in the year than 6/1 so he had til 6/1/14

He entered ND the following year after he was drafted. I have no idea when he enrolled, was it before 6/1/14, I have no idea.

I read Homie's post and read the same thing on the CBA about signing drafted college players and I haven't found a player that refused to sign his ELC with his drafting club if he left college early. If that rule was enacted, many college players leaving early would just coinsider themselves FA imo.

Heck, maybe Baker's right and I'm wrong.

Also, I believe the new CBA wanted the 4 years in college rule to avoid the Justin Schultz effect.

yup, over paid on him, worrying he will leave them now hes getting t he kessel leafs treatment by the fan base saying hes out of shape, useless.etc.

I will totally see them trading him for pennies on the dollar and retaining salary in order to do so

even if you retained who would go near that mess. 5 more years on his deal after this and he's 29.

I would take a shot on him if you get his cap hit down to 6m. Especially if they move a contract like Soderbergs out for him.

Its a terrible contract but if you can get it down to a standard UFA over payment contract from a giant over payment. ITs not as bad IMO

Oh I know, hes been a ghost this season but I think thats the Bouchard effect. Turris, Stone, Hoffman. Then the fwd ranks drop off the face of the earth outside of Bassard who isnt even that good. Ryan has only 52 shots on net so far this season something is going on there..thats a 130 shot pace, when hes been around 180-200 his whole career

Tim Schaller now has 6 goals this year.

I'm not a math whiz, but I think that's a lot more than Grant, D-Lo have.

Kasdorf was 38-37 in college
O'Conner 40-21 in three years at college. Supbar until his ridiculous junior year
Peterson is currently 44-34 in college in his 3rd year.

Peterson's numbers aren't stellar but far superior to Kasdorf. O'Connor was also very highly touted coming out so if you're going to compare the two coming out of college that would be fair. Not accounting for O'Connor's struggles in the pro level. Kasdorf while a nice kid doesn't have that lethal presense that Peterson has

Couldn't resist. And ROR has been soldering through injuries all year. I'd like him to score more but I think he's just starting to heat up. His line mates are currently Gionta and Girgensons. He's doing what he can...

Who are his linemates? Probably a lot better then what he was playing with here.

I'm guessing if he doesn't sign it's because Murray would't give him assurances that Lehner wasn't the franchise guy. Which means we likely wouldn't be drafting a goalie again that high.

8.6 (c)(iv) - If Petersen withdraws (no long bona fide college student), he can become UFA on the later of 6/1 or 30 days after withdrawal
Kris Baker ‏@SabresProspects
And to be clear, this is not a loophole. It was intentionally included to give these players same four-year rights as traditional students

Kris Baker ‏
Petersen played USHL after being drafted, then enrolled at Notre Dame. This is Justin Schultz, Mike Reilly scenario. New CBA did not address

There we have it. Case closed.

Dominic Moore and Riley Nash. Not exactly world beaters.

We have Grant though. Nothing to see here
