this is all sounds and feels so good...if so why not take 4 mil per for 2 years and help the team more...

Face it. If Panarin played hard-ball and went STRICTLY after the money, he could have waited until this summer and almost certainly been offered 7.5 per year on a qualifying offer (Blues definitely might have done such a thing).
He took a little less for reasons OUTSIDE of money. Hard for some to believe, but good on him.
As for your question on why not take 4 million....well, I guess you COULD say why not take 1 million or why not take 800k.
It is REAL $$ dude. Would YOU part ways with 3-4 million a year???? No, I think the fact he inked early for 6 million is a credit to him to strike a deal that BOTH sides could live with.
