He isn't used to losing, it's not fun, the thought was hopefully they'd be better this year, so far it doesn't look like it. If it's an issue Gionta needs to address it.
- mattmoulson

Also true.

Gionta, as a veteran leader, should be setting the tone.

I just think it is deflating to have the Sabres get 3 or 4 from tough teams and then get a big negative message about missing out on 1 point.

as long as murray is around, Lehner will be the goaltender of the future. The guy has #1 potential and obviously wants the best shot at proving it right away. Would you stick around knowing a 25 year old lehner will be the #1?

how do you know anything like that is true?

Fun fact from the extreme advanced statistics...
Top 10 teams ALL have positive Goal differentials...only 2 more have a + there.
Sabres are 15 in Goals Against Average...they are an average team there
Sabres are 28 in Goals Against Average...they are far and away a piss poor performer there

One can deduce that Goal Scoring is the primary problem for this team...yet page after page on this blog point to the woes of the Goaltenders and Defense.

While there has been some pages devoted to our piss poor offensive production, it it outweighed I dare say 4:1 on the D and G.

I think it is time to focus our attention on the forwards ... their collective production is not good enough...woefully short in fact.

I don't disagree.

He needs to pick his spots though.

Yeah, well I don't think ANYBODY wants to play with someone who is constantly negative.

Good leaders are not constantly negative. It doesn't work in any situation you can describe, least of all on a "team".

I think the assumption that Murray will keep Lehner around as his #1 after dealing a first round pick is just as reasonable if not more so thinking he'll cut bait. He obviously values him a ton

Eichel is going to have to learn that you need to be judicious with the sour-face. It can get old, and annoying, rather than inspiring, in an awful big hurry.

After his little tantrum last week, he would have been better served by saying something positive about the Sabres getting 3 of 4 points against good teams. At some point you need a little positivity from your leaders especially with a young team. I thought the Sabres did great this week.

If Eichel is (presumably) the future captain, how much are people going to want him to be their leader with this attitude?

Oh and by the way, 3 of 4 this week is not a participation trophy. It is a couple regular season games in which they did well. No team wins every game. It is a long season and you need to recognize the good things as well as the not-so-good. This is even more true for a team that is not likely to make the playoffs.

Of course they will.

Interesting fact- In Murray's 3 drafts in Buffalo he has only picked one goalie, Jonas Johansson in '14. He has passed on a goalie last two years. I really want Petersen signed.

for him, not taking all four points amounts to a participation trophy...buffalo's teams have been mediocre for years, or in the case of the bills--decades...he's not mediocre nor does he want his team mates to be happy with mediocrity

But the past 2 games weren't mediocre. They were good.

I think he's more disappointed with the fact that they collapsed and gave up the 4th point

Take an example from your blogger. Him and I are having (pretty much done) a good debate/disagreement about it.

Oh he definitely is... and I can see why, especially when it is so tough to make up ground.

How do you think the Leafs feel about the season so far? No team has collapsed more often and given up more 3rd period leads. I doubt that any of them are less pissed off or less competitive than Eichel.

Gotta stay positive. This was a good week.

I think its the expectations set by each team though. Correct me if im wrong but like the sabres last year this season for the leafs was about growth and taking a step forward with the new young core?

The sabres had that year last year so naturally expectations are higher now. its frustration more than anything else.

i get it...i'd prefer to wait until Lehner gets in a full season and see where contract negotiations go before making any judgements
