I think that works against average to below average teams like Winnipeg. We have enough talent to beat teams like this.

I still think in order to TRULY compete with the better teams, they need a few more pieces.

It also could be simple addition by subtraction. Maybe giving Girgensons a real shot has woke him up.

Maybe replacing Bogosian with Guhle next year gives a bump. Baptiste replacing D lo or Grant

If we are more than 5 points out I hope Murray is a seller. And even if we are only 2 points out i hope he gets something for Franson and Gionta (assuming Gionta waives his no trade). No hate against Gionta it's just we might as well get something for him before the TDL. I think vets like Franson and Gionta will be in high demand. We might be able to get a 2nd/3rd rounder for each of them. Plus with Gionta gone, we can bring up Baptiste. Replace Franson with one of Falk or Fedun.

Have you ever watched former Sabre D-man Mike Weber play? His play ranged from average to brutal with most of the time closer to the latter. Last year the Capitals gave up a 3rd for him. Franson is definitely better than Weber. Teams are always looking to get bigger and add depth with defencemen at the TDL. Don't be surprised when you see Franson go for at least a 4th, likely a 3rd and maybe even a second. Only two years ago, the Preds gave the Leafs a 1st for him.

I would like to see a 4th line of Bailey Carrier and Baptiste for a few games. See what a line of all speed could do. I know they are all wingers, but I don't care.
