With the current roster, and available players, yes, he should be.

My argument against this is every seasoned coach had his first and second season where they learned what works and what doesnt..
To me Hak isnt the issue , not having a consistent 2nd center. Not having a way to alleviate any of the coverage away from G and Jake. Having a bottom 6 that is iffy at very best.
The good thing for me is these things look like they will be fixed with the prospects over the next 1 to 3 years.. - opeth_pa
When you guys see the line up, you see it how Bill posted it.
When I look at this new mess of a line up, I see this...
Konecny-Couturier-Voracek
Cousins-Schenn-Simmonds
Raffl-Giroux-Read
I see it this way because this is how I likely expect them to produce. |

Ryan White would have brought more on a nightly basis and a lot less$$$ - 3flyerkids
Wiese has been comically bad. And his contract is absurd. Where else was this guy getting a 4 year contract? |

Well it's good to know Vandevelde is the glue that holds this team together. |

I didnt mind it when they signed him really, but I expected a Ryan White with a few more points.

More like the body fluid stain holding the pages of a magazine together.
He's growing on me though, weird to say. He's better than some of the other options at this point. |

A 1 year deal at his cap hit ok, 4 years? Ridiculous. |

Yup, this was the signing that bothered me last summer. Gordon is one year at 950k, so no big deal. If it works out, great, if not, no big whoop.
Weise, OTOH, based on his full body of work, should have been offered no more than 3 years with an aav of 1.5 million max. If that wasn't enough to get him to sign, then wish him well and move on to plan B. |

I didnt see him much in Chicago but in Montreal he wasn't bad. He was supposed to be the guy to upgrade that bottom 6. He's done in the NHL after this contract unless he steps up big time. |

Waive Gordon
Waive Cousins - SuperSchennBros
They couldn't because it would've taken 24 hrs for him to clear. That said...Gordon should've been waived months ago so whatever
Waiving Cousins would be stupid |

My question on that situation, is why couldn't Alt have been medically cleared a day sooner, giving them the 24 hours needed to waive ALT and demote him?

Well he's under contract to be a head coach for an NHL team so that answers that. I believe the more pertinent question is: how good of an NHL coach is he? I'll reserve judgement until I see what he can accomplish with a better roster. That being said, I do find some of his lineup decisions and line combos to be questionable and I do think he has a tendency to favor a certain type of player. In his defense, you could likely say the same about most, if not all, NHL coaches.
Time will tell. - BiggE
I think he's definitely an NHL head coach. The stuff you mentioned is annoying, but he's no different than a lot of coaches. The way he thinks the game and what he WANTS the flyers to do is correct, I think |

I think weise is better than vandevelde. Maybe not at all times this season, but overall weise is better. Their contracts mean nothing when talking about lineup decisions |

The think the line up decisions are very much why we're losing. Hello Schultz and very awful fourth line. |
