Laughton has been dogged on the puck all night. Good to see he's not sulking in LHV

I would love if Laughton was exactly what we expected to be. The fact he hasn't been is why Schenn is playing center now and the fact there is pressure to keep Couturier in more of a shut down role and less free to focus on being a more skilled second line player. Mind you, I do think Coots can do both and he is but it seems like it throws off the general balance of the team that we don't have another two way center with a balanced game in the middle.

Keyed in on Morin, Sanheim, and Hagg tonight. Thought Sanheim had the best game. Looks very comfortable out there. Morin...looked ok but also just looked lumbering at times. There were some times where you thought he should just physically dominate the player or win the battle and pin the man to the board, etc. Still think he has room to improve at this level. Hagg was okay.

Good consistent night from the group though. No mistaking they all have an NHL shot. A guy like Brennan even though hes their "All Star" representative was making some pretty untimely errors out there.

Brennan, a former Eddie Shore Award winner, is what he is. There's a reason why a player with his size and offensive pedigree has bounced around to various organizations and is basically a career AHLer with less than 3/4 of one NHL season's worth of games in a pro career that started in 2009. He is a big-impact offensive defenseman in the AHL who plays just adequate enough D at that level not to kill a team but but not a player who can take it to the next level as more than a fill-in.

Doesn't mean he's not a very good player -- there's no shame in being a perennial AHL star -- but he's just not someone who has all ingredients to a top-six in the NHL.

Brennan is a monster point producer at that level, but he drives me bonkers watching him play "defense." He's a career AHL guy through and through. O'Neill is every bit as bad and sloppy and lazy defensively, but he's worse offensively, which makes him more bothersome, especially when he was on every PP1 to start the season and Sanheim barely got any time. He got demoted off it though.

Brennan is AHL Erik Karlsson if Karlsson was actually as bad defensively as his fiercest critics think.
