Reading Neil Smith's comments make me wonder if Keenan wrote them and handed each one to him. I was a huge Glenn Anderson fan and thought Gartner was an overpayment for him. Same with Amonte for Nonam and Matteau. Marchant for MacTavish was a very short term fix. While I also liked Tik and he stayed for more than a year, look what Weight provided over the decade or so.

When you look at Turcotte's goal totals with the Rangers, you realize how much easier it was to score back then. He had a couple of 30 goal seasons.

I actually think Gretzky's 92 goals might be one of, if not the most, unbreakable records in sports right now.

Yup, no way that record gets broken. Just watching the goalies and the style they play now compared to the 80's is remarkable. Probably the biggest change in any position in any sport in such a short time.

Stressful and expensive. At least I was allowed to get blind drunk at New Years (not saying I wasn't at Christmas mind you, just that it wasn't frowned upon at New Years).

Yep, he was just such an absurdly good hockey player in his prime. The funny thing is that during my prime hockey watching years in the late 80s and early 90s, I was actually more scared of Mario Lemieux.
