Amonte...

Weight...

Those deals were short term success deals. But man...it hurt after 94...

- mames11

if Nedved had been what he was projected, the Weight part of this would have worked out.

Trade Weight for Tikkanen, Tikkanen helps lead them to the Cup, trade Tikkanen for Nedved, actually kind of a good idea

To be persuaded as to his importance? If u can explain y we need him in our lineup let's hear it. I think we could use a guy with some nasty in his game, but I'm all ears.
- nyrangers9479

Let's start with the fact that he makes about $5 a year, which is very important when you are trying to maintain a salary structure that allows a team to be competitive.

So, what do you get for said $5 a year. You get a player that is ultra-dependable, and your favorite word, responsible. You get a player that back checks perhaps better than any player on the team, and always make the smart play -- i.e., he's never turns the puck over in inopportune spots.

He's the type of player that you can throw out in the third period of a hockey game that you are leading by one goal, and he's going to get the puck deep, not turn the puck over, back check, forecheck, block shots and otherwise play good defense.

Does he score? Not much, but who cares, he's a fourth liner and the Rangers don't need high level offensive contribution from that role.

I get it, you don't like him. He's not flashy. He's not going to wow you at any one particular thing. But, he's the type of player that coaches like, because he's trustworthy and smart, and that you can plug into your lineup for the cost of peanuts at the circus.

Who would you rather play in that roll?

Does Colorado have anyone we want? They will be sellers.

I do think Barrie is untouchable though

We got enough Boston on the team, we need a German center.

If they would go for it, would you do a Skjei + for Barrie?

I think it was worse than that. I think Espo hated NY so much at first he was like get me one of my buddies, like Hodge or Cashman, or I am going to play in the WHA
- jimbro83

Never should have traded Ratelle but Espo did help carry team to 79 Cup Finals. Wonder if JD had been healthy or Bunny Laroque didn't get hit in mask in warm ups of Game 2 if Rangers could have won that series.

would have been great had Bruins won game 7 vs Montreal and they had a Boston-NYR final to settle the trade once and for all

for all the crap Espo gets, he was really good Ranger for a few years

I know, I know, I know. If only for Matteau, no deal. But when Noonan added, Smith big to placate Keenan. Still don't know how those equated to having to deal Amonte.

Well in my defense you weren't very specific. Besides your lack of commitment its pretty much your only flaw.

Turcotte trade bothered me for some reason, but in hindsight the guy never played like he did with the Rangers.

I still feel for Mike Gartner, he was older. I was a huge Weight fan, but he and Amonte were still young and had many more years ahead of them.

When you look at Turcotte's goal totals with the Rangers, you realize how much easier it was to score back then. He had a couple of 30 goal seasons.

I actually think Gretzky's 92 goals might be one of, if not the most, unbreakable records in sports right now.

Stressful and expensive. At least I was allowed to get blind drunk at New Years (not saying I wasn't at Christmas mind you, just that it wasn't frowned upon at New Years).

Yourself?

I don't know why I waste my time.

Tell me who? Who takes his spot? Are you just b*tching with no realistic solution?
