I was doing the facebook on this day thing. A friend and I had a discussion about the Sabres 6 years ago. I said Foligno and Kassian needed to be with the Sabres immediately after the WJC performance. He wrote me this:

I say acquire 1 more defenseman (someone like Tallinder who could hang with Myers and let him do his thing), 2 forwards (we NEED a good center other than Roy), and a backup goalie (who isn't poopty as all hell) and we might have a decent shot.

Connolly, Rivet, Nieds, and I hate to say it but Hecht all NEEED to get the eff out...and to be honest I'm not too crazy about Gerbe, Pommer, or McCormick either...

I miss Tallinder and Lydman so much...

That is my breakdown. If we get some good picks and decent trades(yeah right) then I say we could be a straight up contender in 2 years. That is my analysis. haha

Can I say this about the Sabres... I have stated many times here that the Sabres do indeed have an enormous amount of "potential".... However... "potential" does not win you games... "Performance" does so if these young guys with this "supposed potential" can't transfer that wonderful "potential" onto the ice then they are no better than the run of the mill player who dwells on the 4th line.... That is why the Sabres suck... They have "potential" but no "performance"...

First, a couple moves

Trade Hudson Fasching and maybe someone like Nicolas Delauriers

for

Two 2nd round picks, and a top 4 defensemen

Trade Robin Lehner for a 1st round pick

Trade Evander Kane for 2 good prospects, a 3rd liner, and maybe a rental that is worth a 2nd rounder.

Swap Bogosian for a better top 4 D -man, maybe someone like Myers out of Winnipeg.

Trade pending UFA Kulikov for a younger, cheaper D man, who by all accounts this year, is playing better.

If we can pull this off. We got a shot

The Bills should keep Taylor at all cost unless they secure a replacement who is better than him before March... His 20 million is still only in the middle of the pack pay wise..

But Homie... Who do you replace him with? Manuel? Jones?... There are no upgrades out there... Keep Taylor and try to draft a qb for the furture.... You can't just dump him and not have the BETTER replacement on the team...

This team should be loaded with talent and prospects. This should not be a last place team.

For all of his faults (and there were a ton) he definitely did.

But hey, in 3 years Murray was able to land 2 2nd line forwards with a combined cap hit of 13.5 million.

Whaely is right on one thing... The Bills are not WAAAY off from being competitive like the Sabres... To waste time on McCown or anyone like that is wasting what talent they do have.. Unless they have a better QB on the roster than Taylor then you keep Taylor and draft your future QB.... The weakest link on the Sabres and Bills still appears to be a person named Pegula...
