New Jersey's quietly putting together a decent future.

MCleod, Zacha, Santini, Speers few others plus that Hall trade.

- Sabresfan-365

That division will have the two wild cards in the playoffs for the next 10 years.

They should just take the top 8 and be done with it. They royally (frank)ed up realignment. Sure let's play the Rangers the same amount we play the Sens. We should be playing division teams at least 5 times, not sometimes 3 and sometimes 4. I wouldn't even mind going back to the 8 times a season like we did coming out of the 04 lockout. Honestly why do they even have divisions? Just make it the Eastern and Western conference.

i was referring to his defensive abilities. but of course you can refute those as well if thats what you mean.

hes among a handful of the better two way centers in the game, no? not in toews or bergeron class of course, but a tier below..
as i said, if youve got a 2nd line center that can be a effective as he is at both ends-youre in a comfortable spot.

i wont argue that hes not worth 50 mil as thats pretty huge dollars, but i was sorta under the impression your center position in the top 6 was absolutely NOT one of the teams issues

- HB77

Agreed, he's a very good 2nd line center.

Yet he was acquired with assets and a contract like a franchise player.

This is management problem. The talent is over rated here.

Jack Eichel and Rasmus Ristolainen are the only true all star talents we have

i refuse to believe cbj is anywhere near this good

wennberg, gagner and hartnell are dominant players for eff sakes

this isnt real life

bob is hella good, but he'll come back to earth at some point too

So the US beats Canada in the preliminary round. That means that Canada will beat the US in the medal round.

Team is worse than I thought and I was the one predicting regression this summer.

Blow. It. Up.

Start with Brandon, then GMTM, then Bylsma.

Trade as many veterans as possible.

Do NOT give Lehner an extension.

Hire a Stanley Cup champion to oversee hockey ops and start over.

I'm not saying I don't want O'Reilly here either. He's necessary for us to be good someday. But you are better off drafting and developing guys like that, instead of paying out the assorted them

So I heard Eichel went off in the locker room. Good. He should do the same when he walks into Murray's office and tells him what a (frank) tard we have as coach. Sadly nothing will change in the short term I'm afraid.

Good news is that they don't play either Canada or Sweden until the gold if they get that far.

i was never on the murray train like alot of the sabres faithful seemd to be a year ago.

but one can see the thought process of kick starting the rebuild.

i think that oiler bottom feeder drought probably had a few gms scared.

instead of this never ending losing and patience, add a few proven star quality players to the core youve drafted and give them some insulation. unfortunately he overspent to do so, but only marginally paying for a middling player that cant help your team at all really isnt a much better plan (kind of what the oilers did)

and lets not forget, drafting and developing is all well and good. and certainly the financially prudent way to build, but you actually have to develop said player into a ror. and those are few and far between in the grand scheme.

who's the last top flight guy the sabres have drafted outside the top 10?

Well, no matter what we would have to send salary back for our cap since we would be over it if we took kane. So you would have to take back someone like del zoto ufa after the year or Shultz ufa after the year or contracts with years left like mcdud and read. So id add a bit to it. Like maybe a 2nd and b level prospect.

I think Pegula wanted a name as HC and had considerable influence in hiring Bylduct, along with the fact that there's the Pitt connection as well.

My solution? Fire four eyed dork to start and make a major pitch for Gallant. You could always ride Terry Murray as interim coach till the season is done and then hopefully Gallant or Scott Gordon, maybe John Stevens would be available. Second, get a Pres of Hockey Operations that runs both here and Roch. I look to either Mike Futa or Rick Dudley.
