kuli's had a rough go of it, no doubt and it makes the Pysyk trade look extremely bad...that said, read beadyeyeddouche's post above about a tail bone injury...methinks it's been a problem all season...

imo, best thing for kuli and the sabres is for him to have more time to heal...not a super long time because we want him ready well before the trade deadline but enough time where he can play with minimal discomfort

- Michael Pachla

Yeah, I'm positive he's feeling fine and starts getting his legs under him and then one weird twist or hit into the boards and it shoots straight up your spine and kind of "pops" a little and ends up being sore for a few days again.

I hate the trade, not the player and I'd be willing to keep him through the trade deadline as long as we could unload Franson, Gorges and Moulson. Then I would bring him back on a 2 year deal at a reasonable price.

but isn't the player the reason everyone hates the trade?

But what are we talking about here, Pysyk isn't an impact player! CF% is 48.8 for Kuli and 52.1 for Pysyk (not some massive difference). Pysyk has no physical game at all. Kulikov when healthy does. We traded a 3rd to move up in the draft and get a guy who has been talked about as a mid to late 1st round talent. We won't find out if that part is true for 2-3 years of course, but Kulikov's injury was freak as B.E.D. points out above...if it weren't for that his numbers would probably be close to identical with Pysyk's...a player who we would have had to protect from Expansion. Now we get a rental who we can trade for a pick at the deadline and not be forced to protect.

Not a blockbuster trade, not some big win for the Sabres, but nothing to be mad about. McNabb I get, Bogo I get...Kulikov for Pysyk seems so trivial in comparison and essentially a wash.

No, I hate the trade because I thought Pysyk had the potential to become a decent player on this team. For some reason, he just kind of blended in and he was a perfect #4 D-Man.

It was more about who fits the make-up of the team more, and I thought that was Pysyk. My opinion of Kulikov right now is non-existent because I haven't seen enough of him. I was hoping for a Zhitnik-type, but that might be delusional, lol.

Cliff Pu is on pace for a 114 point season in London. That would be an 83 point increase from last season. Those are 1st round numbers.

Oh and fire Bylduct.

Cheers.

at the time of the trade I didn't care whether or not Pysyk was traded...he was another "core-like," puck-moving d-man from the darcy era...I thought he could be top-four but often times we saw him on the bottom pairing

I hope we have a Hidden Gem but I said the same thing when Luke Adam , grigorenko, Kevin Sundher , Daniel catenacci, Jeremy Leduc, Paul Byron, Nathan Gerbe, Tim Kennedy tops in the league in scoring so on ...

We just have very little luck lately

Time will tell if some of the kids will make that big step. I like Pu's future but I would go slow with him. Let him play another year in jr. and then go from there. No need to rush.

Yep it's too bad he did not make Team Canada so we can see him against some competition and see how he does against pressure . But you're right there's no need to rush him I'm hoping they take their time with nylander .. let him dominate the world juniors just like risto did

I got roasted for bringing this up the other day about our prospects, that they all look great until time goes by. Remember Mika Noronen to be Hasek replacement, or Marc andre Gragnani who was to QB our power play. Mark Mancari the ideal 3rd line center of the future.

We need to step up in the drafting and development game. We only have one Brian Campbell in the past 20 years and that is not good enough.

murray's gonna need to hit on a few of his picks...he's had three drafts since coming aboard and has his top picks both years already in the nhl...2014 may be a rough one outside of reinhart with two Europeans in Jonas Johansson (3rd round) and victor olofsson (7th) possibly bailing the rest of that draft-class out...there are others that could make it in a reserve role...2015 has second-rounder guhle looking good while Estephan (6th) might be a sleeper
